OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University will hit the road for their final two-game road trip of the season to see Western Athletic Conference foes Chicago State and Missouri-Kansas City this weekend.

The Wolverines (12-13, 5-5 WAC) will travel to Chicago to see the Cougars (4-20, 2-8 WAC) on Thursday Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. MT in the Jones Convocation Center. UVU will then travel to Kansas City to see UMKC (9-14, 4-6 WAC) on Saturday in the Swinney Recreation Center at 1 p.m. MT.

"To me, these might be the two most important games that we will play in the regular season. Chicago State is a very good team, and when we played them last they didn't have Layne Murphy, so it will be challenging and we need to play well," head coach Cathy Nixon said. "UMKC is the toughest-playing teams in this conference and they shoot the ball better than anyone else. We have to perpetuate our momentum, and this weekend could really impact the WAC standings."

In the WAC standings, the Wolverines are in a three-way tie for third place, alongside Grand Canyon and CSU Bakersfield.  Utah Valley is paced by Mariah Seals with 11.3 points per game and Sam Loggins with 10.9 points per game. In WAC play, the Wolverines have two scorers averaging double figures in Loggins (13.0), and Rebecca MaWhinney (10.1). Seals is right behind with 9.8 along with Deijah Blanks with 9.5 points per contest in WAC play. Overall, MaWhinney leads on the boards averaging 6.4 per game.

Chicago State is led by Layne Murphy with 12.5 points per game and Kaylee Allen with 11.9. Murphy also leads in rebounds with 8.6 per contest. The Cougars round out the WAC standings, sitting in eighth place overall. Chicago State is on a two-game losing streak after falling to WAC leader NM State 76-63 last weekend, and to CSU Bakersfield 74-61 on Feb. 6.

UVU leads the overall series against CSU 11-6, picking up the victory at home 74-46 in the last contest on Jan. 23.

Missouri-Kansas City enters the contest on a two-game winning streak, defeating UTRGV last weekend in Texas, with a buzzer-beating field goal to win the contest 59-57.  The Kangaroos also defeated Seattle U 64-43 on Feb. 6.

The Roos are led by Aries Washington with 11.3 points per game and Kiana Law with 10.1 points per game. Law also leads the Roos in rebounds with 7.0 per contest. UMKC sits comfortably in fourth place in the WAC standings through ten conference games.

Utah Valley took the lead in the series, 3-2, when defeating Missouri-Kansas City on Jan. 21 79-71 in Orem in the last contest.
