KANSAS CITY, Missouri—With four scorers in double figures, the Utah Valley University women's basketball team defeated Missouri-Kansas City 58-44 on Saturday for its first ever Western Athletic Conference road sweep.

Patrice Toston led the charge with 14 points, four rebounds and five steals, while shooting superstar
Deijah Blanks had 13 points and five rebounds. Senior
Sam Loggins had 12 points, a team-high eight rebounds and two blocks while
Rebecca MaWhinney had 11 points and five rebounds on the afternoon.

The road sweep is Utah Valley's first ever in WAC play, and their first since February 2011.
"This is a big weekend for us, to sweep a road trip. This is a great feeling going into our last home game, and defense was the key for us tonight," head coach
Cathy Nixon said. "We got out to an early lead which helped us and we are gaining momentum and peaking at the right time."

Utah Valley limited the Kangaroos to just five first-quarter points, which the Kangraoos could not recover from until the third quarter, when Kiana Law converted on a three-point play and Ceidra Coleman laid it in to get within three at 28-25. The Wolverines quickly responded with a layup from MaWhinney and then ran for seven straight points to lead by 10. Kansas City responded with a three-pointer from Samantha Waldron but would get no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Utah Valley led by as many as 18 at 58-40 with 1:13 remaining until the Roos tipped it in and added two last-minute free throws from Law.

UVU defeated Chicago State on Thursday evening to complete the conference road sweep.

Utah Valley will return home to host Seattle U in their final home game of the season on Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. MT in the PE Buidling.
