Game Notes

OREM, Utah--
The Utah Valley University women's basketball team will host WAC foe Seattle U in their last home contest of the season on Saturday Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. MT in the PE Building, the game will also serve as Senior Night for Sam Loggins, Patrice Toston and Karlee Norris.

"This time of year it is important for us to hit this peak. It being our last home game, I am looking forward to sentimentally honoring our dedicated seniors and with a victory at home," head coach Cathy Nixon said. "A win this weekend is critical going into the tournament, this is what we can control, and I know if we are competitive this weekend and next weekend on the road at Grand Canyon that the seedings will take care of themselves and we can carry this momentum all the way to the conference tournament."

The Wolverines (14-13, 7-5 WAC) currently sit in a three-way tie for second place in the Western Athletic Conference standings with UTRGV and Grand Canyon. Utah Valley is coming off of a road sweep after defeating Missouri-Kansas City and Chicago State last week. UVU is on a three-game winning streak and the road sweep is it's first in the WAC.

Deijah Blanks is the reigning WAC Player of the Week after her perfect shooting performance (10-for-10) last week at Chicago State, where she recorded a career-high 29 points, a career-high 10 rebounds, her first career double-double, and clinched the school record in field goal percentage in a single contest. Blanks was also named to the NCAA Women's Basketball "Starting Five", this week, highlighting five outstanding performers from the Division I level every week.

UVU is led by Mariah Seals with 11.0 points per game and Loggins with 10.8. In conference play, Loggins leads with 12.3 ppg, while Blanks averages 11.4 through 12 conference games. MaWhinney leads on the boards throughout the season and in conference play with 6.3 and 7.2, respectively.

Utah Valley defeated the Redhawks (9-18, 3-2) in their last meeting in Seatte on Jan. 26, their first on the road over the Redhawks on the road. Seattle U leads the series at 5-2. Seattle is on a five-game losing streak, dropping their last two contests to WAC regular season champion NM State (66-56) and UTRGV (71-76).

Seattle is led by Taelor Ross with 12.7 points per game, while Tal Sahar also averages double figures with 10.2 per contest. Kaylee Best leads the Redhawks with 3.5 assists per game and 2.4 steals per game on the season.

The game will be live-streamed on the WAC Digital Network and a StatBroadcast will be available, links can be found on WolverineGreen.com. The contest is slated for 3 p.m. MT in the PE Building and tickets are on sale in the UCCU Center ticket office.
