TUCSON, Arizona – Utah Valley University was roughed up in a midweek contest at the University of Arizona, 14-0, on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field. The Wolverines dropped to 11-11 overall and 4-2 against the Pac 12 this season, while the Wildcats improved to 14-6 and 6-0 in games against WAC teams.

The Wildcats scored three times in the third and added two more in the fourth with all five runs coming with two outs. With the bases full and two down in the third, Zach Gibbons singled home two runs with another run coming in on an errant throw to put Arizona up 3-0.

In the fourth, reigning Pac 12 Player of the Week Bobby Dalbec tripled home two runs to give the Wildcats a 5-0 advantage. After Arizona added a run in the fifth, Ryan Aguilar, who tripled and scored in the third, hit a two-run home run to right to extend the lead to 8-0.

Aguilar also homered for Arizona during a six-run sixth inning. Five different players had multiple RBI contests for the Wildcats.

The teams combined to use 13 different pitchers in a planned bullpen day for Utah Valley, which had eight pitchers make appearances.
Logan Hold pitched a 1-2-3 second inning for UVU and extended his season-long streak to 17.0 innings without allowing an earned run.

The Wolverines are now set to open WAC play on Thursday at Grand Canyon, the defending WAC regular season champions and the preseason pick to win the league this season. The series begins Thursday at 7 p.m MST/8 p.m. MT.
