OREM--The Utah Valley women's soccer team looks to keep its unbeaten streak at home alive on Friday night as the Wolverines welcome UNLV to Clyde Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MT
Utah Valley enters Friday's matchup against UNLV with a 3-1-0 overall record. The Wolverines picked up a pair of wins last week over Southern Utah and Oklahoma. UVU defeated Southern Utah 2-0 in last Friday's home opener to extend its Clyde Field unbeaten streak to 11 matches. The Wolverines then traveled to Oklahoma where the team snapped OU's 11-match home unbeaten streak with a 1-0 shutout over the Sooners.
Abby Jameson scored the game winner in the victory over Southern Utah, firing a shot from 25 yards out into the upper right 90 in the 24th minute. The goal was the first of Jameson's collegiate career.
Alexis Peterson helped secure the win in the 90th minute as she received a pass from
Breanna DeWaal down the right side of the field and put it past the keeper for the score.
Taylor Kirk found the back of the net in the 16th minute after making a move past the OU keeper and firing a shot with her left foot to an open goal just out of the reach of an Oklahoma defender. Kirk's goal secured the 1-0 win over the Sooners.

Peterson leads the Wolverines with three goals on the year. Five other Wolverines have each scored one goal this season. DeWaal leads the Wolverines with 14 shots, including a team-best six shots on goal.
Breanna McCarter ranks second with eight shots, including a pair on net.

The Rebels enter Friday's match with a 4-0-0 record--the team's best-ever start to a season in program history. UNLV picked up a pair of home wins last week, defeating Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington to lift the team to a first place finish at the UNLV Invitational. The Rebels have scored an impressive 15 goals this season with seven different Rebels registering a score. Redshirt freshman Michalea Morris leads the team with four goals this year, followed by senior Dakota Blazak with three. Blazak scored her three goals in the team's two wins last week. For her efforts last week, Blazak earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors. UNLV currently has the seventh-ranked offense in the nation, averaging 3.75 goals per match. The team's 15 goals are the fifth-most scored in the nation this year.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UNLV
Utah Valley and UNLV meet on the pitch for the fifth time on Friday night with Rebels holding a 3-1-0 all-time series advantage. The match marks just the second time that the two teams have met at Clyde Field where the Wolverines picked up a 1-0 win in overtime on Sept. 14, 2014. The past two meetings between the two teams have gone into overtime with UVU taking the win at Clyde Field in 2014 and UNLV taking a 4-3 win last season in Las Vegas.
UVU ENTERS NSCAA TOP-10 WEST REGION POLL
Utah Valley entered the NSCAA West Regional Top-10 rankings this past week. After a pair of wins last week over Southern Utah and Oklahoma, UVU enters this week's poll at No. 10. The Wolverines were a mainstay in the poll last season. The West Regional poll also includes BYU, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Long Beach State, Cal Poly, San Francisco, Portland, Cal State Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara.
UVU'S NIELSEN NAMED WAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brooklyn Nielsen has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her play Aug. 22-28. The honor marks the first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor for Nielsen. Nielsen, a freshman from Sandy, Utah (Jordan HS), helped the Wolverines to a pair of shutout wins this past week. Nielsen made her first career start in a 1-0 shutout road victory over Oklahoma. She helped UVU snap OU's 11-match unbeaten streak at home with the win. Nielsen faced 12 OU shots and made a pair of late saves to secure the victory. She also had a pair of saves in the second half of UVU's 2-0 win over in-state rival Southern Utah on Friday night.
UVU SNAPS OKLAHOMA'S HOME UNBEATEN STREAK, SHUTOUT SOONERS 1-0
Taylor Kirk's first half goal led the Utah Valley University women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout road win over Oklahoma, snapping the Sooner's 11-match home unbeaten streak Sunday afternoon at John Crain Field. The win pushes UVU's record to 3-1-0 on the season. The loss is the first of the season for Oklahoma, which falls to 2-1-1 on the year. Prior to Sunday's setback to the Wolverines, OU's last loss at John Crain Field came back on Nov. 14, 2014 against Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament. Kirk found the back of the net in the 16th minute after making a move past the OU keeper and firing a shot with her left foot to an open goal just out of the reach of an Oklahoma defender.
Sara Callister earned the assist on the score. Oklahoma just edged the Wolverines on shots, 11-10, but UVU tallied six shots on goal compared to OU's two.
Breanna DeWaal led the Wolverines with three shots, including one on net.
Brooklyn Nielsen was credited with the win in the box in her first complete match of the season. The freshman keeper recorded a pair of saves in her first start of the year.
LOOKING AHEAD
Following Friday's match against UNLV, Utah Valley will head back out on the road as the team travels to play Wyoming on Sept. 9 before facing Colorado College on Sept. 11.
HOME SWEET CLYDE FIELD - UNBEATEN STREAK AT 11 MATCHES
Utah Valley has enjoyed an impressive 18-2-3 at Clyde Field over the past two seasons. The Wolverines hold an all-time 63-32-9 mark at home since UVU became a Division I member in 2003. UVU went unbeaten at home last season with a 9-0-1 record. The team extended its Clyde Field unbeaten streak to 11 matches with its win over Southern Utah last week. The Wolverines ranked 24th (1,074 per game) nationally in attendance at Clyde Field last season. UVU already ranks 10th in the nation in attendance after welcoming 1,990 fans through the gates at last Friday's home opener against Southern Utah.
UVU IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Utah Valley's highest national statistical ranking is in yellow cards. The Wolverines rank 39th nationally with three yellows this year. The team ranks 52nd nationally in total goals with eight. UVU ranks 55th in shutout percentage (0.5) and 66th in scoring offense (2.0 gpm). Individually, UVU forward
Alexis Peterson ranks 29th in the country with three goals.
KIRK ENTERS ALL-TIME UVU CAREER CHARTS
Senior forward
Taylor Kirk ranks in the top-10 in three different all-time UVU career statistical rankings. Kirk is tied for fourth all time with six game-winning goals, just two away from the all-time best mark of eight. She ranks 10 all-time in points with 33 and also ranks 10th in careers assists with nine.
WOLVERINES SELECTED AS CO-FAVORITES TO WIN WAC TITLE, SUESUE NAMED WAC PRESEASON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Utah Valley was selected as a co-favorite to win the 2016 Western Athletic Conference title as determined by a vote of the league's eight head coaches. UVU senior defender
Kalli Suesue was tabbed the WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year by the WAC coaches. Utah Valley and Seattle U each received four first-place votes and three second-place votes for 46 total points.
SU downed UVU 1-0 in last year's final conference match to claim the WAC's regular season crown. . The Wolverines then defeated Seattle U 2-0 in the WAC Tournament championship to claim its first-ever WAC Tournament title and trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Suesue was selected as the league's preseason defensive player of the year after helping the Wolverines to an impressive eight shutouts last season. She also helped the UVU defense to a 1.17 goals allowed average. Suesue is the third straight Wolverine to receive WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Suesue was also named to the Preseason All-WAC Team along with senior midfielder
Taylor Kirk. Kirk scored six goals and recorded six assists for 18 points last season. She registered 20 shots, including 14 on goal. She was named to last season's WAC All-Tournament team after scoring the game-winning goal in the championship win over Seattle U.
ANDERSON REACHES 100-WINS MARK
Utah Valley head coach
Brent Anderson reached win number 100 in style on Nov. 8, 2015. The 11th-year head coach picked up win number 100 with a 2-0 win over Seattle U in the championship match of last season's WAC Tournament. Anderson now holds a 103-93-12 career record. He holds an impressive 58-15-3 conference mark in his 10 years at UVU, and is 21-9-2 in conference play since joining the WAC.
