UTAH VALLEY BEGINS THREE-GAME HOME STAND AGAINST NM STATE, UTRGV
The Utah Valley University women's soccer team opens a three-game home stand on Thursday as the team takes on New Mexico State at Clyde Field. The Wolverines will then host UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday before welcoming Grand Canyon on Oct. 20. The three matches mark UVU's final home games of the season. Both games will be part of a doubleheader with the Utah Valley men's team.
The Wolverines opened WAC play last week on the road, going 1-1 with a 3-0 loss at Kansas City and a 9-0 win at Chicago State. Utah Valley heads into this week's matches fresh off an impressive 9-0 win at Chicago State on Sunday afternoon. Breanna McCarter recorded a hat trick with three goals, while Amber Tripp and Sydney Fitzpatrick each registered a brace with two goals apiece. Tori Smith scored the game winner in the fifth minute, while Libby Weber also recorded a goal in the shutout victory.

Breanna DeWaal leads both UVU and the WAC with 51 shots and 26 shots on goal this season. Breanna McCarter leads the team with six goals, which ranks her tied for fifth in the WAC. She also leads the team with 14 points with her six goals and two assists. Smith leads the team and the WAC with six assists. Breanna DeWaal and Sydney Fitzpatrick each have four goals, while Amber Tripp has three. Sarah Davis leads the keepers with a 1.55 goals allowed average, while Brooklyn Nielsen leads the team with 24 saves.

Thursday night's match against New Mexico State and Saturday's match against UT Rio Grande Valley will both be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network with Brandon Crow handling the play-by-play duties and former UVU soccer player Melanie Ostler on the color call.

Thursday's doubleheader is also the teams' Pink Game to raise awareness for cancer. Shirts will be handed out to the first 500 fans attending the men's game. Saturday night is Military & First Responder Appreciation Night. All military and first responders and their families, with proper ID, can get into the game for free. In between the matches on Saturday will there will also be a trunk or treat in Lot L12, just north of Clyde Field, and all kids 12 and under who come in costume can also enter the games for free.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State enters Thursday night's match with a 7-6-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 WAC mark. The Aggies are 2-3-1 on the road this season. The team is unbeaten in its last three matches with wins over Arizona Christian and Grand Canyon. The team opened WAC play last week at home with a 2-2 double overtime tie against CSU Bakersfield and a 2-1 double overtime win over Grand Canyon. Senior forward Devin Hart and junior forward Audriana Chavez lead the team with seven goals each. Junior midfielder/forward Aileen Galicia is third on the team with five goals. Freshman goalkeeper Dmitri Fong leads the team in goal with 62 saves and an impressive 0.82 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY VS. NEW MEXICO STATE
Utah Valley and New Mexico State meet on the pitch for the sixth time on Thursday night. UVU holds an all-time 3-0-2 advantage over the Aggies. The two teams match up in Orem for the third time with UVU holding an all-time 1-0-1 record over NMSU in Orem.
ABOUT UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY
UT Rio Grande Valley enters the week with a 7-5-2 overall record and a 2-0-0 mark in WAC play. The team is seeking its first road win of the season this week as the team holds a 0-3-2 record on the road. The Vaqueros have won three straight dating back to a 6-0 shutout win over Texas Lutheran to wrap up non-league play. The team then opened WAC play at home last week with a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon and a 2-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield. Graduate forward Andreya Barrera leads the team with six goals this year. Freshman forward Jada MacLean follows with three goals. The Vaqueros have tallied 19 goals this season while limiting opponents to 12. Senior keeper Erica Gonzalez and sophomore goalie Kinga Szemik have split time in goal for UTRGV this season. Gonzalez has 31 saves and a 0.76 goals allowed average, while Szemik has 26 saves and a 0.88 goals allowed average.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UTRGV
Utah Valley and UTRGV meet on the pitch for the fifth time on Saturday evening. UVU holds an all-time 4-0-0 record against the Vaqueros, including a 1-0-0 all-time mark against UTRGV in Orem. The Wolverines defeated UTRGV 1-0 in overtime last season in Edinburg.

This year's seniors will be celebrated prior to Saturday night's match against UT Rio Grande Valley. This year's senior class includes Sydney Fitzpatrick, Tori Smith, Libby Weber, Rylee Gritton, Tara Furlong, Sheridan Fox, Amanda Marshall, Sarah Cipperley, and Sara Callister.
MCCARTER BECOMES FIFTH PLAYER IN UVU HISTORY TO RECORD HAT TRICK
Breanna McCarter became just the fifth player in Utah Valley University women's soccer history to record a hat trick as she led the Wolverines to a 9-0 shutout win over WAC foe Chicago State on Oct. 8 afternoon at Kroc Stadium in Chicago. McCarter scored the first of her three goals in the 14th minute. The junior forward also found the back of the net in the 53rd minute and 62nd minute to record her first-ever hat trick. McCarter becomes just the fifth player in UVU history to register a hat trick. Jaime Lyons was the last UVU player to score three goals in a single game, recording her hat trick on Oct. 23, 2009 in a win over North Dakota.
UVU BREAKS SINGLE GAME ASSIST RECORD AT CHICAGO STATE
 The Wolverines tallied 10 assists in a 9-0 win over Chicago State on Oct. 8, which is the highest mark in UVU team history. It breaks the previous record of eight, which was set by the 2005 team against Delaware State on Oct. 29, 2005. The nine goals in the win are the third-most ever in a single game in UVU history. UVU scored a team-record 11 goals in a win over Delaware State in 2005 and tallied 10 goals in a win over Northwest Nazarene in 2003.
