UTAH VALLEY HOSTS GRAND CANYON IN CLYDE FIELD FINALE, TRAVELS TO BAKERSFIELD
The Utah Valley University women's soccer team plays its final home game of the year when the team hosts Grand Canyon on Friday night at Clyde Field. The Wolverines will then travel to play CSU Bakersfield on Sunday in California.

The Wolverines have won three straight matches dating back to a 9-0 shutout at Chicago State on Oct. 8. UVU then swept a pair of home matches last week, defeating New Mexico State, 5-2, before edging UT Rio Grande Valley, 2-1, in overtime. With the two wins last week, UVU has taken over the second spot in the league standings, just three points behind WAC leader Kansas City.  In the win over NM State last week, Breanna DeWaal and Amber Tripp each recorded a brace with two goals apiece, while Tori Smith scored one. Smith and DeWaal also registered goals in the win over UTRGV.
 
DeWaal leads UVU and ranks second in the WAC with 57 shots this season. DeWaal also ranks third in the WAC with 20 points and tied for fourth in the league with a team-best seven goals. Breanna McCarter ranks second on the team with six goals, which also ranks her tied for sixth in the WAC. Smith and DeWaal lead the team and are tied for first in the WAC with six assists each.  Amber Tripp has five goals, while Smith and Sydney Fitzpatrick each have four. Libby Weber has two goals and Doriana Moul and Ashlyn Farnes each have one. Brooklyn Nielsen leads the team with six wins in the box. She also has a team-best 27 saves on the season.

Friday night's match against Grand Canyon and Sunday's match at CSU Bakersfield will both be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network with Brandon Crow handling the play-by-play duties and former UVU soccer player Melanie Ostler on the color call for Friday night's home match.

ABOUT GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon enters Friday night's match with a 4-11-1 overall record and a 1-3-0 WAC mark. The Antelopes are looking for their first road win of the season as the team holds a 0-7-0 road mark. The team had lost six straight matches before picking up a 7-0 win over Chicago State at home last week. The 'Lopes split its two matches at home last week, picking up the win over Chicago State before falling, 1-0, in overtime to WAC leader Kansas City. Junior midfielder/forward McKenzie Cook leads the team with 10 points, tallying three goals and four assists. Senior forward Milla Benedetti also has three goals with one assist for seven points. Senior keeper Blakely Fraasch leads the team in the box with 61 saves and a 1.26 goals against average. She holds a .753 save percentage. Grand Canyon is coached by Derek Leader who is in his second season with the team. He holds an 11-20-3 record with the team.

SERIES HISTORY VS. GRAND CANYON
Utah Valley and Grand Canyon meet on the pitch for the ninth time on Friday night. UVU holds an all-time 5-3-0 advantage over the 'Lopes. The two teams match up in Phoenix for the fifth time with the series tied at 2-2 in Phoenix. The two teams split a pair of matches last season with each team winning on its home pitch. GCU won the last matchup between the two teams, taking a 2-1 win in double overtime in Phoenix.

ABOUT CSU BAKERSFIELD
CSU Bakersfield enters the week with a 6-9-1 overall record and a 1-2-1 mark in WAC play. The 'Runners snapped a seven-match winless streak last week as the team split a pair of WAC matches at home with a 2-0 loss to Kansas City and a 6-1 win over Chicago State.  CSUB will travel to play Seattle U on Friday before returning home to host Utah Valley on Sunday. Junior midfielder Alexa Orrante leads the team with six goals, three assists and 15 points. Freshman forward Kamari Hines ranks second on the team with five goals and 11 points. Sophomore keeper Jordan Bertram has played all 16 matches for CSUB in the box, tallying 68 saves with a .708 save percentage. She also has a 1.68 goals allowed average. The 'Runners are coached by Gary Curneen who is in his fourth season with the team. He holds a 16-37-5 record at CSUB.

SERIES HISTORY VS. CSU BAKERSFIELD
Utah Valley and CSU Bakersfield meet on the pitch for the 10th time in the two team's history. The Wolverines hold an all-time 7-2-0 advantage in the series. CSUB defeated the Wolverines, 1-0, last season for the first time since 2008. UVU holds an all-time 4-0-0 record against the Roadrunners in Bakersfield.

SCORING MACHINE
Utah Valley has scored 16 goals over its last three matches--an average of 5.33 goals per match. Since shutting out Chicago State on the road, 9-0, Utah Valley has continued its scoring spree, defeating New Mexico State, 5-2, and UTRGV, 2-1.

UVU IN THE CORNER
The Wolverines rank fourth in the nation in corner kicks with 123 this season. The team is also 10th in the nation in corner kicks per game this year at 7.24 per match. The Wolverines lead the WAC in both categories.

ROAD TRIPPIN'
Utah Valley has logged 16,126 miles this season. The team has played in nine different states this year. Utah Valley spent nearly a month on the road before the team opened its home slate against Wyoming on Sept. 8. UVU opened the season with a pair of matches in Hawaii. The team then traveled to Las Vegas, Northridge, California, Tulsa, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The team then wrapped up non-conference play at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. UVU finished its non-conference games away from Clyde Field with a 2-8 record. The Wolverines have played 12 of their 15 matches away from Clyde Field. UVU holds a 2-9-0 road record and a 1-0-0 record at a neutral site this season. Last week's matches at UMKC and Chicago State marked the team's 11th and 12th games of the year away from Orem, Utah.

INJURY BUGS
Utah Valley has lost four players to injury this season, including Alexis Peterson, Sara Callister, Sheridan Fox, and Sadie Brockbank. Peterson led UVU with five goals last season, while Callister scored two and Fox had one. In 2015, Fox led UVU with eight goals while Callister tallied three.

TAKING IT TO OVERTIME
Utah Valley has played five overtime games this season. The Wolverines opened the season with a 2-1 loss at Hawaii in overtime. The team then dropped back-to-back 2-1 overtime decisions at UNLV and at CSUN. The Wolverines also lost in double overtime at home to Washington State, 3-2. UVU picked up its first overtime win of the year, defeating UTRGV 2-1 in the first overtime.

Utah Valley leads the WAC with 261 shots this season and ranks third in the league in shots per game at 15.35 per match.

CLYDE FIELD MAGIC
Utah Valley holds an impressive 70-34-10 all time record at Clyde Field. The team has lost just five matches over the past four seasons on the home pitch. UVU went 5-2-1 last season, including a double overtime tie against in-state rival Utah and wins over Southern Utah, UNLV, Grand Canyon, Chicago State and UMKC. The Wolverines were unbeaten at home during the 2015 season with a 9-0-1 mark. UVU is 4-1-0 at home this season with wins over Wyoming,Seattle U, New Mexico State and UTRGV. UVU ranks 30th nationally in attendance, averaging 911 fans per match.
