OREM, Utah—Sacramento State scored four runs in the sixth inning and six more in the eighth to help secure a 12-4 win over Utah Valley in the second game of a double header on Friday evening at Brent Brown Ballpark.
Â
The win secured the Hornets (14-11, 2-3) a double header sweep and a series win over the Wolverines (8-17, 3-2). Sacramento State tallied 15 hits with no errors while leaving seven runners on base. Utah Valley scored its four runs on nine hits while leaving nine runners on base. Â
Â
"We had some opportunities all day to knock in some runs," said Utah Valley head coach
Eric Madsen. "It was disappointing. I felt like every opportunity we had to turn the tide, we missed those chances and they took advantage of them. We failed on both sides of the ball today. Sacramento State swung the bat well and pitched it to us. We have to turn things around tomorrow to get a win in this series. We haven't matched their intensity. For us to win, we have to come out tomorrow and match that intensity against a talented, well-coached team."

A Trent Goodrich triple then scored Devin Lehman and Esposito before a throwing error helped Goodrich score from third to give Sacramento State a 6-2 lead after six innings of play.
Â
After holding UVU scoreless in the seventh, Sacramento State's Dawsen Bacho homered to open the top of the eighth, sparking a six-run inning for the Hornets. Ian Dawkins hit a sacrifice fly to send Ricky Martinez across the plate. James Outman then singled down the left field line to help Blake Edmonson score. Esposito then hit a home run over the left field wall to score both Outman and Floyd to give the Hornets a 12-2 advantage.
Â

Jackson Overlund from third.
David Modler then hit a liner to the Hornet's second baseman, who dropped the ball before turning a double play with a force at second and a tag at third.
