UTAH VALLEY WILL LOOK TO CONTINUE WINNING WAYS TUESDAY AT WEBER STATE
OREM, Utah – Fresh off taking the series over the first-place New Mexico State Aggies over the weekend, the Utah Valley University softball team will step out of conference play for an in-state midweek matchup at Weber State on Tuesday afternoon. The Wolverines and Wildcats are set for a 4 p.m. contest at WSU's Wildcat Softball Field in Ogden.

UVU (16-23, 7-4 WAC) will enter the ballgame having won six of its last seven ballgames and currently in third place in the WAC standings after taking two of three over NM State over the weekend. The Wildcats (23-19, 11-4 Big Sky) will enter the midweek contest having won six of their last eight contests and currently atop the Big Sky Conference.

Tuesday's in-state battle will be streamed live on BigSky TV. Live stats will also be available by visiting WeberStateStats.com.

Utah Valley managed to overcome a 6-0 deficit in Saturday's series finale by scoring seven unanswered runs to earn the series victory over New Mexico State for the first time in program history on Senior Day at UVU. Trailing 6-0 in the last of the fourth, Caragh Morris blasted out her first of two, two-run homers in the ballgame. Lyndsay Steverson and Basia Query both drove home runs for the Wolverines in the fifth to make it a 6-4 game, and the reigning WAC Freshman of the Year Morris followed with her second two-run round tripper of the game in the last of the sixth to tie the score a 6-6. Madison Sisco then started a seventh-inning rally for the Wolverines with a one-out double off the leftfield wall to put the winning run in scoring position and Kaylee Bott immediately followed by the pinch runner Linnah Rebolledo home with a walk-off RBI single to right to give the Wolverines the dramatic come-from-behind victory on Senior Day.

Makayla Shadle too had a large part in the series-clinching victory for UVU by pitching four innings of scoreless relief to help keep Utah Valley in the ballgame. In the series finale on Senior Day, Shadle struck out five and didn't walk a batter while allowing just two hits and no runs en route to picking up the victory in the circle.

The Wolverines opened the weekend by outlasting the defending WAC tournament champion Aggies by a score of 9-7 in the series opener on Friday, and then narrowly dropping a 5-3 decision in Saturday's first game of the twin bill in which the Wolverines had the tying runners in scoring position when the contest came to a close.

Brianna Moeller led the Wolverines at the plate in the series by hitting an even .500 (5-for-10) with a double and a two runs scored, while Bott followed with a .444 average, three runs scored and the game-winning RBI in the series finale and Morris went 3-for-4 (.750) with two home runs and four runs batted in off of the bench. Shadle paced the Wolverines in the circle in the series with a 2-0 record and a 1.68 ERA in 8.1 innings of work.

Prior to the NM State series, Utah Valley swept a three-game series from conference foe UMKC in Kansas City April 13-14 and followed that up with an 8-2 in-state victory at Utah State on April 18, as the Wolverines have currently won six of their last seven games.

Moeller paces the Wolverines offensively on the season with a .368 batting average, while freshman Peyton Angulo is next with a .365 clip. Sisco and Steverson lead the way in home runs and RBIs, respectively, with respective tallies of six homers and 28 RBIs. Addie Jensen fronts the UVU pitching staff with a 3.39 ERA and a 9-9 record, while Shadle is right behind her with a 3.58 ERA and a 5-7 record.

ABOUT WEBER STATE
The Wildcats will enter Tuesday with a 23-19 overall record and currently leading the Big Sky Conference with an 11-4 league record. WSU has won six of its last eight games after sweeping Big Sky foes North Dakota and Idaho State, as well as dropping both games of an in-state doubleheader at Utah. Weber State was picked to finish second in the Big Sky this year after winning the conference regular season title a season ago.

Ashlyn Visser leads the Wildcat offense with a .363 average, 11 home runs and 49 runs batted in. Takesha Saltern is next with a .349 clip and 30 stolen bases. Visser's 49 RBIs and Saltern's 30 steals are both good enough to lead the Big Sky. Kirtlyn Bohling fronts the WSU pitching staff with an 11-8 record and a 3.31 ERA.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. WEBER STATE
Tuesday's contest will mark the third and final meeting on the season between UVU and WSU and the 28th all-time meeting. The Wildcats took the two previous meetings on the season, 12-4 and 8-4 in eight innings at the Red Desert Classic in St. George last month. Weber State has also won 10 of the last 11 contests, but UVU still holds a 14-13 all-time series advantage.

ON DECK FOR UVU
Following the midweek game, UVU will head to Bakersfield, California, for its final WAC series of the season. The series will open on Friday, April 27 with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. MT/2 p.m. PT. The weekend series will then conclude on Saturday, April 28 with a 2 p.m. MT/ 1 p.m. PT contest. UVU will enter the weekend two wins back of both NM State and Seattle U, who are both currently tied for first with identical 9-3 conference records.
