UTAH VALLEY HEADS TO PROVO FOR UCCU CROSSTOWN CLASH ON TUESDAY
OREM, Utah –
Fresh off of three-game sweep at CSU Bakersfield to finish WAC play in second place in the conference standings, Utah Valley University softball will head to Provo for a UCCU Crosstown Clash at neighboring rival BYU on Tuesday.

The in-state contest will begin at 6 p.m. MT and will be televised locally on KBYU-TV Channel 11 and streamed live by BYUtv on YouTube. Live stats for the midweek non-conference ballgame will also be available by visiting BYUStats.com.

Utah Valley will enter Tuesday's game with a 19-24 overall record and a 10-4 WAC clip after sweeping its final league series at CSU Bakersfield over the weekend. UVU has also won nine of its last 11 games. With the sweep, the Wolverines managed to leapfrog Seattle U in the standings by a half of game to finish the conference season in second place and earn the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye at the upcoming WAC Tournament. The second-place finish in WAC play is the best finish in program history for the Wolverines since joining the league prior to the 2014 season.

The Wolverines scored four seventh-inning runs to earn an 8-7 come-from-behind victory in the series opener at Bakersfield thanks in large part to a go-ahead three-run home run from Kaylee Bott. Behind a complete-game gem from Makayla Shadle and another go-ahead RBI hit from Bott, UVU then swept Friday's doubleheader over the Roadrunners with a 2-1 victory. Utah Valley then finished off the three-game sweep with a 7-2 win in the finale on Saturday.

Lyndsay Steverson and Bott led the Wolverine offense in the series by hitting .625 (5-for-8) and .455 (5-for-11), respectively. Steverson also added a homer, a double and three RBIs, while Bott recorded two home runs, a double and five runs batted in. Makayla Shadle and Lauren Frailey Spendlove too both pitched well on the weekend for the Wolverines. The reigning WAC Pitcher of the Year Frailey Spendlove went 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA, while Shadle went a perfect 1-0 with a save, a 0.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts.

On the season, Brianna Moeller paces UVU at the plate with a .364 batting average. Peyton Angulo is next by hitting .358, while Steverson leads the way in the power numbers with six homers and 31 RBIs. Shadle leads the pitching staff with a 3.24 ERA and a 6-8 record, while Addie Jensen is right behind her with a 3.47 ERA and a 9-9 win-loss clip.

ABOUT BRIGHAM YOUNG
BYU will enter the week with a 28-20 record and currently in second place in the West Coast Conference standings with an 8-1 league mark. The Cougars will first head to Southern Utah for an in-state battle with SUU on Monday before hosting the Wolverines on Tuesday. Brigham Young will enter the week having won six of its last seven ballgames. The Cougars were picked again to win the WCC this season after having won a conference championship in each of the past nine seasons, as well as 13 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Libby Sugg paces the Cougars on the season with a .386 batting average, 10 home runs and 55 RBIs. Sugg was selected to the USA Softball College Player of the Year Watch List prior to the season after earning first team NFCA All-Region honors last year. Kerisa Viramontes leads the way in the circle for BYU, as she holds a 15-6 record and a 1.92 ERA.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BYU
Tuesday's contest will mark the 42nd all-time meeting between UVU and BYU. The Cougars will enter play holds to a 37-4 series lead and having won seven straight meetings, which includes an 11-0 five-inning contest on April 10 in Orem. Utah Valley's last win came on March 21, 2015 in Provo when former Utah Valley pitcher Bailey Moore no-hit the Cougars en route to earning a 13-0 victory.

ON DECK FOR UTAH VALLEY
The Wolverines will next head on to Reno, Nevada, this weekend to close regular-season play in a three-game non-conference series at Nevada. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, May 5 beginning at 1 p.m. MT/noon PT and a single game on Sunday, May 6 at 1 p.m. MT/noon PT. Following the series, UVU will head to Las Cruces, New Mexico, for the 2018 WAC Tournament next week. The Wolverines will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face either No. 3 Seattle U or No. 6 UMKC on Thursday, May 10 at 1 p.m. MT in their opening game.
