OREM, Utah – Head Utah Valley University women's golf coach Dr. Sue Nyhus has announced the addition of Kate Williamson, a transfer from Florida Gulf Coast University, to her 2018-19 roster. Williamson will be eligible to play for the Wolverines this spring.

"We're delighted with the addition of Kate to our team," said Nyhus. "She is a skilled Division I golfer that will immediately add some depth to our roster. We're thrilled to have her here at UVU and excited to resume our season in Southern California in a couple of weeks."

Williamson, who enrolled at UVU for her junior campaign in January, comes to Orem after playing her freshman and sophomore seasons at FGCU in Fort Myers, Florida. At Florida Gulf Coast, Williamson earned second team All-ASUN and All-Freshman Team honors as a freshman and is a two-time WGCA Scholar All-American. She also earned ASUN Golfer of the Week honors during her sophomore season and posted a 76 .61 scoring average as a freshman and a 77.16 stroke average as a sophomore.

Williamson began playing golf at five years of age and started on the varsity golf team at Archbishop McCarthy as a sixth grader. She won a district title as a sophomore in high school after carding a 69 and tied for fourth at the Dixie Amateur in 2016 with an even-par 288 (74-71-74-69).

After taking the winter months off, the Wolverines will return to action on Feb. 11-12 at UC Riverside's Battle at the Rock at Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, California. UVU will then compete at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix on Feb. 23-24, before heading to St. George, Utah, for both the BYU at Entrada Classic (March 11-12) and Southern Utah's Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational (March 14-15).
