Utah Valley travels to play Utah on Tuesday at the Huntsman Center

UTAH VALLEY TRAVELS TO SALT LAKE TO PLAY UTAH ON TUESDAY AT HUNTSMAN CENTER
  • Utah Valley heads out on the road for just the second time this season when the team makes the short drive up I-15 to Salt Lake City to take on in-state foe Utah on Tuesday at the Huntsman Center. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
     
  • Utah Valley is yet to play with its full roster this season and will likely be without all of its players again this week. Evan Cole and Tim Fuller missed the first three games of the season. Colby Leifson missed the first two games of the year. JJ Overton missed last week's games against Southern Utah and Wyoming.
     
  • Fardaws Aimaq scored a career-high 27 points with a school-record 20 rebounds to lead Utah Valley in a 93-88 setback to Wyoming on Saturday afternoon at the UCCU Center.  The redshirt sophomore scored his 27 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the floor and an 11 of 16 mark at the free throw line. He also had three assists and a pair of blocks. Trey Woodbury scored 23 points, connecting on 8 of 18 shooting. He also had five rebounds and eight assists. Jordan Brinson helped with 19 points to go along with five assists. Evan Cole was also in double figures with 12 points
     
  • Aimaq's 20 rebounds on Saturday breaks the previous UVU single game record of 19 rebounds set by Baylee Steele against BYU on Nov. 9, 2018. Aimaq has now recorded 15 or more rebounds in four of his five games this season. The redshirt sophomore scored his 27 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the floor and an 11 of 16 mark at the free throw line. He also had three assists and a pair of blocks. He leads the nation in total rebounds (78) and ranks second in rebounds per game (15.6), second in defensive rebounds per game (10.2), second in offensive boards per game (5.4), and third in double-doubles (4).
     
  • Utah Valley ranks sixth in the nation in assists per game, dishing out 21.6 a contest. The Wolverines also rank 15th in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.69.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
Tuesday's game at Utah will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network, which is also streamed at Pac-12.com/live. Todd Harris will be handling the play-by-play duties and former coach Joe Cravens will be on the commentary. The game will also be broadcast over the radio waves as Jim McCulloch enters his 11th season as the Voice of the Wolverines. Brandon Crow will be on the air at 4:30 p.m. with the Wolverine pregame show.  The radio broadcast will be aired live on ESPN 960AM radio. A live stream of the radio broadcast will also be available at ESPN960Sports.com.

ABOUT UTAH
Utah is 2-1 on the season with wins over Washington and Idaho State. The team dropped its first game of the season in an 82-64 setback at BYU (common opponent) on Saturday at the Marriott Center in Provo. Senior guard Alfonso Plummer led the Utes with 19 points on 4 of 8 shooting from long range against BYU. Junior forward Riley Battin was also in double figures with 14 points in the loss. Plummer leads the team in scoring through three games this season, averaging 17.7 points a contest. Junior forward Timmy Allen also averages double figures at 11.3 points a game. Sophomore forward Mikael Jantunen leads the Utes on the boards, pulling down 6.0 rebounds a game. As a team, Utah is averaging 71.7 points per game while limiting opponents to a 67.7 points per game average.

SERIES HISTORY VS. UTAH
Utah Valley and Utah meet on the basketball hardwood for just the second time on Tuesday. Utah won the only meeting between the two schools with an 87-80 win at the Huntsman Center in 2016. Utah Valley holds an all-time 2-9 record against the Pac-12. UVU took a 70-68 win at Oregon State in Corvallis in 2005 and a 70-68 win over Oregon State on 2010. UVU last faced a Pac-12 opponent on Dec. 6, 2018 when the Wolverines dropped an 80-69 decision at Arizona in Tucson.

AIMAQ BREAKS UVU SINGLE GAME REBOUND RECORD
Aimaq's 20 rebounds on Saturday breaks the previous UVU single game record of 19 rebounds set by Baylee Steele against BYU on Nov. 9, 2018. Aimaq has now recorded 15 or more rebounds in four of his five games this season. He now holds three of the top four marks on the UVU single game rebounds record chart.

AIMAQ LEADS THE NATION ON THE BOARDS
Fardaws Aimaq leads the nation in total rebounds, pulling down 78 boards through five games this season. He also ranks second in rebounds per game (15.6), second in defensive rebounds per game (10.2), second in offensive boards per game (5.4), and third in double-doubles (4).

DISH MASTERS
Utah Valley is one of the top assists teams in the nation. The Wolverines rank sixth nationally in assists per game (21.6) and 14th in total assists (108). The team also ranks 15th in the country in assist turnover ratio at 1.69. Individually,  Blaze Nield ranks 13th nationally in assist turnover ratio at 6.33. Trey Woodbury leads the team in assists at 5.0 a game, followed by Nield at 3.8 a contest.
