OGDEN, Utah/SEATTLE – The Utah Valley University track & field teams capped their 2019-20 indoor regular season with a number of impressive outings at the Weber State Invitational and Washington's Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday in both Ogden and Seattle.

With a number of UVU's top competitors in action at UW's Husky Classic, senior
Adrian Jones led the way by setting a new school record in the men's 3000m run with a blazing time of 8:11.64. Fellow distance runners
Kevin Lynch and
Hannah Branch too had strong showings in the 5000m run, as Lynch posted UVU's second fastest time in program history in the event (14:26.21) on the men's side while Branch too posted the second fastest time in UVU history in the women's 5000m (16:56.86). With some of the top athletes in the nation at the meet, Jones' time in the 3000 was good enough for a 44th-place finish, while Lynch placed 47th in the men's 5000 and Branch took 52nd in the women's 5000.Â

A week removed from setting the school record in the pole vault at 5.50m (18-00.50), senior
Larry Still too had another strong showing in the event by clearing 5.36m (17-07.00) on his way to placing second at the highly competitive meet. Fellow pole vaulter
Alex Lawrence too had a strong outing at the Husky Classic by tying for fifth after clearing 4.91m (16-01.25).

Senior jumper
Albert MacArthur also shined for UVU at UW by taking second in both the long jump and the triple jump with respective marks of 7.31m (23-11.75) and 15.31m (50-02.75), while
Sam Coleman posted the third-best time in program history in the 800m on his way to placing 18th in the event (1:53.13).
"We had a really good meet at both Washington and Weber State. We went into the weekend trying to figure out who would be making the travel squad to the WAC Championships, and we were very pleased with how our athletes went out and performed," head UVU track & field coach

Adrian Jones with him setting the school record in the 3000 at Washington. We're also thrilled to have some movement in the top-10, as well as some great performances from both Albert and Larry in Seattle.
"At Weber, we also saw a number of great performances and I couldn't be more pleased with how our student-athletes went out and competed. It seems like things are really starting to round out and our athletes are hitting the times and marks that we knew they were capable of hitting."Â Â Â

At the Weber State Invite, UVU claimed a total of six first-place finishes.
Aaron Johnson led the way by winning three events himself with victories in the 200m dash (22.51), long jump (7.29m/23.11.00) and triple jump (13.10m/42-11.75). Fellow men's athletes
Seth Dabb and
Seth Krauss too recorded victories by winning the 400m (49.77) and high jump (2.06m/06-09.00), while
Berkley Berrett tied for first on the women's side in the pole vault by clearing 3.51m (11-06.25).Â

Jumper
Taygin DeHart also performed well for the Wolverine women by placing second in both the long jump (5.17m/16-11.50) and the triple jump (10.65m/34-11.25).
Larissa Dabb also placed second in the 400m (58.65), while
Kyandra Chandler took second in the 1-mile (5:12.97),
Mazzie Melaney placed second in the 3000m (10:13.91), and
Briana Dusenberry Burt tied for second in the high jump (1.63m/05-04.25).
Secret McEuen posted a third-place finish for UVU in the 55m dash (7.33), while
Kate Richardson took third in the 1-mile (5:15.15),
Emily Jones finished third in the 3000m (10:14.78).

With the stellar showing from the number of distance runners in the women's 3000m run, Melaney moved into seventh place in the UVU record books, while Jones moved into eighth and
Taylor Viertel moved into ninth.Â

On the men's side,
Seth Dabb posted a second-place finish in the 200m (23.17), while
Isaac Manning took second in the pole vault (4.73m/15-06.25),
Caleb Furnell placed second in the triple jump (12.93m/42-05.25), and Johnson placed third in the 55m (6.44),
Luis Alvarez finished third in the 200m (23.20), Manning took third in the 400m (51.26),
Lamek Keditukei placed third in the 1-mile (4:24.56), Ethan Farrer tied for third in the high jump (1.96m/06-05.00), and
Ryan Eror took third in the long jump (6.27m/20-07.00).

In the throws,
Kyle Routsong led the way in the men's weight throw by finishing fourth (15.53m/50-11.50), while
Josh Clark placed fourth in the shot put (14.46m/47-05.25). On the women's side,
Chania Nagel paced the squad by taking fourth in the weight throw (15.28m/50-01.75) and fifth in the shot put (12.08m/39-07.75).Â

As a whole, the Wolverines set a total of 22Â personal bests and records on the weekend.Â

The meets marked UVU's final tune-up for the WAC Indoor Championships, as the conference indoor men's and women's championship will run Feb. 28-29 at Jackson's Indoor Track at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. A season ago, both the Wolverine men and women placed third at the WAC Indoor Championships.Â
