LAS VEGAS, SAN FRANCISCO, and STANFORD, Calif. — Sila Kiplagat set a new school record in the 1500-meter to headline Utah Valley's efforts on Friday across the UNLV Rebel ELITE, Mike Fanelli Track Classic, and Stanford Invitational.
Kiplagat's time of 3:40.74 was the best in his heat and the 10th-best overall in a stacked field that featured some of the top runners in the country. Kiplagat's time is the best in the WAC so far this season.
Later in the evening at Stanford, Morgan Nokes went up against an equally-stacked field in the 10,000m, taking eighth in her section with a time of 32:20.03 — 17 seconds short of Everlyn Kemboi's school record in that event — and trimming 48 seconds off her previous best to move from No. 4 to No. 2 all-time. In the second 10k section, Ari Trimble posted a new PR of 33:45.29, moving up from eighth to sixth all-time.
In Las Vegas, the 800-meter was the top event for the Wolverines as Pierce Vittone and Max Clemons posted new PRs of 1:49.34 and 1:50.60 to take fourth and eighth all-time respectively. Vittone took first in the event, while Clemons took fourth. On the women's side, Bria Anderson posted a new season best of 2:12.05 to move into a tie for sixth all-time as she finished third. Jennaveve Bingham fell just short of her personal best of 2:11.58, taking second overall at 2:11.65.
Gavin Stafford continued his torrid stretch of form, setting a new PR of 20.92 in the 200-meter dash to move debut in the top 10 in fifth. Stafford's time is second in the WAC this season behind teammate Kade Thompson, who ran a season-best 20.81 in the event.
Reagan Doman posted another top-10 time, this time in the 5000-meter, debuting at No. 6 with a mark of 16:09.28.
A pair of steeplers posted top-10 marks in the Bay Area. Cameron Jacobs posted the No. 5 mark in the men's steeplechase at 8:48.90 at Stanford, while Kaitelyn Emmons posted the No. 10 women's time at SFSU at 10:55.15.
Utah Valley will wrap up its weekend tomorrow, with athletes competing across all three meets once again. The first Wolverines competing will be in the 10k in San Francisco, beginning at 9:30 a.m. MT.
