BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Senior
Bailey Henley is tied for ninth and the Utah Valley University women's golf team currently sits in eighth place after two rounds of action at the season-opening Valley Invitational at Bakersfield Country Club in Bakersfield, California on Monday.
Henley fired rounds of 76 and 77 on to sit in the top-10 after two rounds of action with a 9-over-par 153. The Wolverine senior carded a grand total of four birdies and 20 pars on the day.
Sophomore
Victoria Estrada is next for UVU, as she'll enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 31st place with a 15-over 159 (79-80). Playing in her first collegiate event, freshman
Anna Lesa is currently UVU's third scorer in 42nd place with an 18-over 162 (83-79), while sophomore
Lauren Taylor is in 54th with a 169 (86-83) and freshman
Caylyn Ponich is in 56th with a 172 (85-87).
Playing the event as an individual, freshman
Macy Robertson had a solid opening day, as she sits in 34th with a 16-over-par 160 after tallying scores of 82 and 78.
As a team, UVU is in eighth place out of 10 teams with a 66-over-par 642 (323-319). The Wolverines are currently ahead of in-state foe Dixie State (643) and Santa Clara (658). Currently in eighth place, UVU will enter Tuesday's final round just two shots back of the host CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners for seventh (640) and 13 strokes back of Colorado State for sixth (629).
Cal Poly leads the event with a 32-over-par 608 (303-305), while Cal State Fullerton is in second with a 612 (+36), and WAC foe California Baptist is in third with a 613 (+37).
Cal State Fullerton's Brittany Shin is atop the individual leaderboard with 1-over-par 145 (76-69).

Following the conclusion of The Valley Invite, UVU will return to California the following week, Feb. 15-16, to take part at Wyoming's Mountain Matchplay Classic at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, California.
