GOODYEAR, Ariz.—Chloe Jang fired an even-par 72 to lead the Utah Valley University women's golf team in Monday's opening round of the Bobcat Desert Classic at Golf Club of Estrella.
Jang sits tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard after the first round, helping Utah Valley to 11th place in the 13-team field with an opening-round score of 18-over-par 306.
Maria Ortiz is tied for 34th after carding a 4-over-par 76 in the opening round.
Valentina Zuleta and Rylie Rodriguez are each tied for 58th after posting 7-over-par 79s, while Pati Uluave sits tied for 68th following an opening-round 8-over-par 80.
Competing as an individual, Alyssa Butterfus is tied for 50th after shooting a 6-over-par 78.
Montana State leads the tournament after the opening round at 1-under-par 287, while Avery Bartels of North Dakota State holds the individual lead at 5-under-par 67.
Utah Valley will continue play at the Bobcat Desert Classic with the second round on Tuesday.
