ABOUT SEATTLE U
Seattle U enters Saturday's match against the Wolverines with an 12-4-2 overall record. The Redhawks have won four straight, including Thursday night's 3-2 semifinal win over WAC Tournament host Grand Canyon. Seattle's last loss was a 4-1 setback at Utah Valley on March 27. Ava Benedetti, Kacey LaBoda, and Hallie Bergford each scored goals for SU in the team's 3-2 win over Grand Canyon on Thursday night. The win pushes Seattle into the WAC Tournament championship match for an eighth-straight year. Sydney Carr leads the Redhawks with 16 goals this season, but did not play in Thursday night's win over the Lopes. Benedetti ranks second on the team with eight goals, while Emily Bunnell has three. Madison Waguespack leads Seattle in the box with an 11-4-2 record. She has tallied 53 saves and allows only an average of 1.14 goals a game.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SEATTLE U
Utah Valley and Seattle U will meet on the pitch for the 23rd time on Saturday. SU holds an all-time 16-3-3 series advantage over the Wolverines. Utah Valley took this season's two-match series against the Redhawks, tying SU 2-2 in game one before taking a decisive 4-1 win over the Redhawks in game two. The two teams will meet in the WAC Tournament championship match for the fourth time where the Wolverines have claimed two of the three titles over SU (2015, 2017). SU won last season's tournament championship match over UVU in overtime, 2-1, in Seattle. Three of the last four matches between the two teams have been decided in overtime.
UVU AT THE WAC TOURNAMENT
The Wolverines hold an all-time 8-5-1 record at the WAC Tournament since joining the league in 2013. Utah Valley went 1-1 at the tournament in 2019 with a 3-1 win over Kansas City in the semifinals and a 2-1 overtime loss to Seattle U in the championship match. UVU will play a tournament semifinal match for the seventh time in team history. The Wolverines hold a 3-3 record in WAC Tournament semifinal matches. Saturday's match against Seattle will mark the fourth time that UVU has played the Redhawks at the tournament. UVU holds a 1-2-1 record against SU at the tournament. Its will be the fourth time the two teams have met in the tourney title game.

UVU SNEAKS PAST NM STATE ON PKs, 4-3, TO ADVANCE TO SATURDAY'S WAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH AGAINST SEATTLE U
After playing New Mexico State to a 1-1 double-overtime tie, Utah Valley advanced to Saturday's WAC Tournament championship match against Seattle U after winning a penalty kick shootout against the Aggies, 4-3.
Utah Valley opened the game with a goal in the first minute of the match as
Nicole Ray sent a pass on the left side of the field to
Sadie Brockbank. Brockbank then sent a ball to the front of the goal where
Heather Stainbrook fired the ball into the back of the net to give the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead.
New Mexico State scored the equalizer in the 21st minute after Corey Kizer raced down the field and received a long pass from Hannah Leitner dribbled once inside the box and then sent the ball into the goal to tie things up, 1-1.
After playing to a 1-1 draw in regulation, the teams battled through a pair of overtime period without finding the back of the net. The teams were then forced to decide the match in a penalty kick shootout.

Isabel Jones-Dawe picked up a pair of impressive saves against NM State's first two shooters. The Wolverines took advantage with four made picks by
Sydney Bushman,
Nicole Olanda, Stainbrook, and
Cassidy McCormick to win the shootout and secure the team a spot in Saturday's tournament championship match.
Utah Valley outshot NM State 24-11 on the day, including a 12-6 advantage on goal. Stainbrook and Brockbank led UVU with six shots apiece, including three each on frame.
London Miller had five shots with one on net, while
Amber Tripp had three shots, all on goal.
Jones-Dawe tallied five saves in the box in 110 minutes of action before coming through with a pair of big saves in the shootout.
UTAH VALLEY WINS SHARE OF ITS FIRST-EVER WAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE
Utah Valley defeated in-state foe Dixie State in the Old Hammer Rivalry, 3-0, on April 10 at Clyde Field to claim a share of its first-ever Western Athletic Conference regular season title.
With the win, Utah Valley wrapped up regular season play with an 11-4-3 overall record and a 10-2-2 mark in WAC play. The Wolverines win a share of the WAC regular season title with Seattle U, which also finished the season with a 10-2-2 record in league play. UVU picked up the win on senior night as
Cassidy McCormick,
Amanda Mangelson,
Brenna Crow, and
Siri Dahl were honored in a ceremony prior to kickoff.
"This is really special for a lot of reasons," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay. "It's our first-ever WAC regular season championship. We were able to celebrate four seniors before the game that have come through this program. They have been so instrumental in building this program and helping us claim a share of the WAC title tonight."
The Wolverines have earned the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye at this week's WAC Tournament because of its win over Seattle U on March 27.
SHEPHERD NAMED WAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Utah Valley redshirt sophomore
Jenna Shepherd has been named the WAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year. Shepherd becomes the fourth player in UVU history to earn the award. Shepherd also earned First Team All-WAC honors for the first time in her career. She received Second Team All-WAC honors and WAC All-Freshman team honors last season. The American Fork, Utah native anchored the Wolverine defense to nine shutouts this season. Shepherd came in on numerous set pieces to produce offensive results. She has scored five goals this year on 13 shots.
Shepherd joins a strong list of former UVU defensive players to earn the WAC's top defensive honor. Lauren Sack won the award in 2013, followed by Lexi Robison in 2014, and Jessica Duffin in 2015.
SCHOOL-RECORD 10 WOLVERINES EARN WAC POSTSEASON HONORS
The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2020-21 women's soccer postseason honors and Utah Valley was well represented as 10 of its players received awards, marking the most postseason honors that the team has ever earned. Utah Valley redshirt sophomore

UTAH VALLEY RANKS IN THE TOP-50 IN SEVEN STATISTICAL CATEGORIES
As of April 16, the Wolverines rank in the top-50 in nine team statistical categories. The team ranks tied for first in penalty kicks (1), eighth in total goals (37), eighth in total points (107), 12th in total assists (33), 17th in corner kicks per game (6.74), 12th in shots on goal per game (8.37), and 25th in shots per game (16.21).
