Estrada tied for 82nd after two rounds at NCAA Stanford Regional

Victoria Estrada carded an 8-over-par 79 on Tuesday to hold a two-round tally of 156 (+14) after two rounds of play at Stanford Golf Course.

STANFORD, Calif. – Utah Valley University second-year freshman Victoria Estrada is tied for 82nd place after two rounds of play at the NCAA Stanford Regional. Estrada carded an 8-over-par 79 on Tuesday to hold a two-round total of 14-over-par 156 at Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.

After opening her and the program's inaugural NCAA Regional appearance with a 6-over-par 77 on Monday, Estrada continued her 2021 NCAA Regional run with the 8-over-par 79 on Tuesday. After opening Tuesday's second round on the 10th hole, the UVU second-year freshman finished with a strong front nine with six pars and a birdie on the par-5 seventh hole to card the 79 on the day.

Estrada became the first NCAA qualifier in UVU women's golf history after earning an automatic bid after winning the program's inaugural WAC individual championship a couple of weeks ago at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. Estrada carded a 54-hole total of 2-under-par 214 with rounds of 74, 69 and 71 on her way to coming from behind to be crowned the WAC individual champion. The 2-under 214 was not only a career-best for Estrada, but it also tied for the best three-round score in program history.

Playing the field as an individual, Estrada is tied with Iowa State's Charley Jacobs after 36 holes of competition at 14-over-par.  She'll enter Wednesday's final round five strokes back of fellow individual Holland Shourds of Long Beach State (81-70—151). Stanford's Angelina Ye (69-66—135) and her teammate Rachel Heck (68-67—135) are tied for first atop the player leaderboard at 7-under-par.

The host Stanford Cardinal lead the NCAA Stanford Regional on their home course with a 25-under-par 543 (272-271). Wake Forest (565) and Virginia Tech (565) are next, as they are tied for second at 3-under. The 2021 WAC champion New Mexico State Aggies dropped a spot to sit in 12th place out of 18 teams at 18-over-par (586).

Utah Valley's Estrada will cap her inaugural NCAA Regional appearance with round number three on Wednesday. She will tee-off on hole number 10 at 9:50 a.m. MT/8:50 a.m. PT and live scoring can be followed by visiting GolfStat.com.
