ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley freshman Avery Shewell was named TicketSmarter WAC Freshman of the Week for the week of Oct. 17-25. This marks the third time Shewell has won the award and the second consecutive week.
 
Shewell, this past week, had 18 kills for an average of 2.57 a set. She added 1.86 digs a set for a total of 13 on the week and finished with five block assists for UVU. Shewell added an excellent match serving on Oct. 20 against Utah Tech with three service aces and eight kills. She recorded a double-double against Southern Utah on Oct. 22 with ten kills and ten digs.
 
Utah Valley will hit the road this week with matches at Tarleton on Oct. 27 and Abilene Christian on Oct. 29. UVU finishes out the home slate next week with a Nov. 3 match vs. New Mexico State before Senior Day on Nov. 5 against first-place UTRGV.
