Heather Stainbrook scored the game winner and broke the Utah Valley career points record in leading the Wolverines to a 2-0 win over Utah Tech on Saturday night in the team's regular season finale at Clyde Field. The win secured the Wolverines the outright Western Athletic Conference regular season championship.

Utah Valley finishes regular season play with a 13-3-3 overall record. The team finished atop the WAC standings with an 9-1-1 league mark. The regular season league title is UVU's second regular season championship and the team's first-ever outright regular season league title as the Wolverines won a share of the 2020 championship.

Saturday night's win secures Utah Valley the No. 1 seed and first-round bye at next week's WAC Tournament in Seattle. The Wolverines advance straight to the WAC Tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8Â p.m. (MT).Â

After playing to a 0-0 tie in the first half, Utah Valley's
Taylor Nelson sent a ball from the left side of the field to Stainbrook on the right side. Stainbrook then fired off a shot just inside the box that got past the Utah Tech keeper and into the goal to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute.Â

The goal gives Stainbrook 73 career points as she becomes Utah Valley's all-time point getter, breaking the previous record of 71 points set by both Sadie Brockbank (2017-21) and Jenni Clough (2005-08). Stainbrook is also UVU's all-time leading goal scorer with 28, surpassing the previous career record of 26 goals set by Brockbank and Clough.Â

The Wolverines took a 2-0 lead less than two minutes after Stainbrook's score in the 55th minute as
Julianna Carter made a move past a Trailblazer defender and touched the ball forward to
Faith Webber just inside the box on the right side. Webber then fired a shot with her left foot towards the far post and into the back of the net to give Utah Valley a 2-0 advantage.

Utah Valley dominated possession against Utah Tech and outshot the Trailblazers 28-3, including an 8-0 advantage on goal.
Hannah Lee led UVU with a match-high five shots followed by Stainbrook with four shots, including three on frame. Carter,
Nicole Olanda, and
Tessa Thornton each had three shots.

Utah Valley honored its four seniors prior to the match, recognizing Carter,
Megan Sullivan,
Madeline Moore, and
Hailey Hillock.

The Utah Valley defense picks up its sixth clean sheet of the season.
Idalia Serrano led UVU in goal, playing all 86minutes in the box to collect her second combined shutout of the year. Hillock played the final four minutes in the box for the Wolverines.

Utah Valley now preps for next week's WAC Tournament in Seattle, Washington. The Wolverines will play in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. (MT). The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
