GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Leighton Shosted and
Victoria Estrada sit in the top 10, as the Utah Valley University women's golf team is in sixth place after two rounds of play at Montana State's Bobcat Desert Classic on Monday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.Â
Shosted fired rounds of 72 and 75 on Monday to sit in a tie for second place at 3-over-par (147), while Estrada follows in a tie for sixth place after recording a 70 and 79 on the day to sit at 5-over (149). Shosted and Estrada each carded five birdies apiece on Monday to lead the way for UVU. The freshman Shosted will enter Tuesday's final round seven strokes back of the leader—Claire Choi of Santa Clara (-4).

As a team, the Wolverines are in sixth place out of 11 squads with a 40-over-par 616. After opening with a 301 on Monday morning, UVU posted a 315 in the afternoon to drop two spots on the leaderboard. Santa Clara is leading the way at 16-over-par (294-298—592), while Northern Arizona is in second at 23-over, and in-state foe Southern Utah follow in third at 24-over. By being in sixth place, UVU will enter Tuesday ahead of Dixie State (+48), Idaho State (+50), Eastern Washington (+53), Montana State (59), and Northern Colorado (+63).Â

Anna Lesa (81-79) and
Bailey Henley (78-82) are next for UVU, as they are tied for 37th at 16-over-par.
Caylyn Ponich rounds out Utah Valley's competitors at the event in 49th at 21-over (83-82).Â
