Utah Valley Women's Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule

OREM—Utah Valley University women's soccer head coach Chris Lemay has released his team's 2022 schedule which features five non-conference home games highlighted by a Sept. 6 matchup against SEC foe Alabama at Clyde Field and a UCCU CrossTown Clash game at NCAA Tournament finalist BYU on Sept. 10.  
 
"We continually work hard to provide our players the most competitive environment in our non-conference segment of the fall schedule in hopes to best prepare them for WAC play," said Lemay. "We are looking forward to hosting so many quality opponents at home on Clyde Field. The local soccer community and our UVU students continue to make Clyde one of the best women's college atmospheres in the country and we take pride in putting a great product on the pitch that they can be proud to cheer on. BYU is always a schedule headliner, and this upcoming fall will be even more exciting, to have an opportunity to compete with last year's NCAA finalists will be a challenge that we look forward to."
 
The Wolverines head into the 2022 season fresh off a third-straight appearance in the WAC Tournament championship game. UVU returns 
 
Utah Valley will make its first trip to Boise, Idaho since 2006 to open the season against Boise State on Thursday, Aug. The Broncos went 11-7-4 last season and made a trip to the championship match of the Mountain West Conference Tournament where it dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to New Mexico. The Broncos made a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2019. 
 
UVU will then return home for five straight non-conference games at Clyde Field. Utah Valley's home opener will be on Monday, Aug. 22 against Colorado College, which plays in the Mountain West Conference. The Wolverines will then host UCF of the American Athletic Conference on Thursday, Aug. 25. 
 
Utah Valley will host Big West foe Cal State Northridge on Thursday, Sept. 1 before welcoming regional rival Idaho State on Saturday, Sept. 3. The team will then host SEC foe Alabama on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The game against the Crimson Tide will be an elementary school day game at 11 a.m. Alabama went 11-10 last season and picked up a 1-0 win over Clemson at the NCAA Tournament before falling to BYU in the second round. 
 
The Wolverines will wrap up non-conference play against crosstown rival BYU on Saturday, Sept. 10 at South Field in Provo. The UCCU CrossTown Clash game will kick off at 7 p.m. BYU went 17-4-3 last season and won the West Coast Conference title. The Cougars made a run to the NCAA Tournament championship match last season where it tied No. 1 Florida State 0-0 and then lost the NCAA title in penalty kicks. 
 
Utah Valley will open Western Athletic Conference play at New Mexico State on Friday, Sept. 16. UVU will also travel for road games at Sam Houston (Sept. 18), at Grand Canyon (Sept. 30), at California Baptist (Oct. 2), at Seattle U (Oct. 8), at Abilene Christian (Oct. 21), and at Tarleton (Oct. 23). 
 
Utah Valley will open WAC home play at Clyde Field against UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, Sept. 22. UVU will also host WAC matches against Incarnate Word (Sept. 24), Lamar (Oct. 13), Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 15), Southern Utah (Oct. 27), and Utah Tech (Oct. 29). 
 
This year's WAC Tournament will take place Nov. 2-6 at Championship Field in Seattle, Washington.
