Brady McKinlay finished in a tie for 19th with a three-round score of 1-under-par 215 (70-71-74) to lead the Utah Valley men's golf team to a 13th place team finish at 16-over-par 880 (291-296-293) at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at Eisenhower Golf Course in Colorado Springs.
"It's been a frustrating week," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "We were really close to play some really good golf. We struggled with speed control the last two days."
Utah Valley shot a 5-over-par 293 in Sunday's final round to finish 13th in the 24-team field at 16-over-par 880. The Wolverines finished ahead of 11 teams at the tournament, including a pair of WAC teams in California Baptist and Southern Utah.
Colorado State won the team title with a three-round score of 30-under-par 834 (283-280-271).
McKinlay carded a final-round 2-over-par 74 to tie for 19th in the 120-player field with a three-round score of 1-under-par 215 (70-71-74). The junior tallied five birdies on Sunday, including three on the back nine.
Caden Weber shot a 1-under-par 71 in Sunday's final round to move up six spots on the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 31st at 2-over-par 218 (75-72-71). Weber fired four birdies with 11 pars in his final round.
Ryan Seamons recorded a 6-over-par 78 on Sunday to finish tied for 39th with a three-round score of 5-over-par 221 (71-72-78).
Kai Iguchi shot a 3-over-par 75 in his final round to finish in a tie for 96th at 15-over-par 231 (75-81-75).
Landon Anderson rounded out the scoring with a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish tied for 99th at 16-over-par 232 (78-81-73).
Colorado State's Connor Jones won medalist honors at 13-under-par 203 (68-69-66).
In the GMFI individuals tournament on the Silver Course,
Andrew Hawk led Utah Valley with a final-round 3-under-par 69 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 20th at 3-over-par 219 (77-73-69).
Joseph Glenn shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 20th with Hawk at 3-over-par 219 (72-72-75).
Ethan Efford shot a 2-over-par 74 to finish tied for 32nd at 9-over-par 225 (77-74-74).
Utah Valley continues fall play at the Colorado State Ram Masters, Sept. 19-20, at Fort Collins Country Club.
