OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling will send a small group of wrestlers to the Snow College Open on Saturday, Jan. 7, in Richfield, Utah. The Tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. MT with live results available via Track Wrestling. There will be no stream for this tournament.
 
Utah Valley will be joined by Snow College and Ottawa University, as well as club teams from BYU, Grand Canyon, Utah Tech, and Utah State in the tournament.
 
Six Wolverines saw action at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 18. Nico Rodriguez (285) went 4-2 and was only one victory short of a podium spot. James Emmer (141) finished with four wins in the tournament. UVU ended December with three duals against Campbell, Drexel, and Purdue. UVU fought tough in the duals and suffered close losses in the duals. Evan Bockman (197) led the way going 3-0 in the duals.
 
Utah Valley had three wrestlers in the national rankings this week. 174-pounder Demetrius Romero was ranked No. 7 by InterMat and No. 11 by FloWrestling. Bockman was the other wrestler ranked in both polls coming in at No. 23 by FloWrestling and No. 24 by InterMat. Haiden Drury (133) was ranked No. 28 by InterMat.
 
UVU will compete against four teams currently in the Top 25 in the dual meets as part of the Big 12 competition. The Big 12 now has five teams in the Top 25 on the UVU schedule, with No. 3 Iowa State, No. 14 Northern Iowa, No. 16 North Dakota State, No. 20 South Dakota State, and No. 20 Northern Colorado.
 
The Wolverines will host a pair of nationally ranked teams next weekend for duals as No. 14 Northern Iowa enters Lockhart Arena on Jan. 13 at 6:00 p.m. MT. No. 3 Iowa State will meet UVU on Jan. 14 at 8:00 p.m. MT.
