ABILENE, Texas—
Heather Stainbrook recorded her first career hat trick as Utah Valley extended its unbeaten streak to nine games with a 3-1 road win over Abilene Christian on Sunday at Elmer Gray Stadium.

Utah Valley improves to 8-3-4 overall and ups its WAC record to 5-0-1. The Wolverines have won five straight matches and have a nine-game unbeaten streak. It is the fifth straight game that UVU has scored three or more goals. Abilene Christian falls to 7-6-1 overall and 2-3-0 in WAC play.Â

Utah Valley continues to hold sole possession of the top spot in the WAC standings with 16 points.Â

Chris Lemay. "Heather had a great day and we are happy to see her get the hat trick."

Utah Valley got on the scoreboard in the 31st minute after a ball got deflected around in the middle of the box before Stainbrook got a foot on it and punched it into the back of the net to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.Â

Stainbrook secured her second goal of the game in the 65th minute after
Sadie Beardall sent a long pass from the middle-left side of the field to Stainbrook who headed it into the goal to give Utah Valley a 2-0 advantage.

Stainbrook recorded her third goal after finding a ball inside the box before firing a shot with her left foot into the back of the net to give the Wolverines a 3-0 lead in the 68th minute. The goal secured Stainbrook the first hat trick of her career and the 13th hat trick in UVU history. It also marks the third hat trick of the season for a UVU player.Â

ACU's Peyton Hill scored in the 87th minute to cut the deficit to a 3-1 advantage for UVU.

Utah Valley outshot Abilene Christian 16-5 on the day with a 6-3 advantage on goal. UVU had six corner kicks while holding ACU to one. Stainbrook and
Ruby Hladek led UVU with a match-high four shots apiece.
Nicole Olanda had three shots, while
Nixan Jackson had two.Â

CJ Graham picked up the win in the box, playing all 90 minutes with a pair of saves.Â

Utah Valley will now play its final three WAC games at home, beginning with rival Seattle U on Saturday night. The game against the Redhawks will be UVU's Cancer Awareness Pink Game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match. Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 6 p.m.Â
