LONG BEACH, Calif. – Utah Valley All-American long jumper
Aaron Johnson set a new school record at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on Thursday at Long Beach State.
Johnson jumped 7.92 meters (26-00.00), which is the 8th-best mark in the country and tops in the WAC so far this season. He breaks the record held by Albert MacArthur (7.83m) that was set on 2018.
Aiden Garnett won the men's high jump, setting a new personal record and entering a tie for the third-best mark in the school's top 10. Garnett was the only jumper to hit 2.14 meters in the event which puts him ninth in the West this season.
Quincy Bonds ran the No. 2 100-meter hurdle time in program history, finishing in 13.90 seconds, besting her old time of 14.06 seconds set earlier this season.
Emma Aldred-Hunt also raced into the top 10 and now sits at No. 10 after running it in 14.31 seconds.
In the men's 100,
Kade Thompson's time of 10.63 seconds puts him at No. 10 in the school record book.
Taylor Viertel and
Hailey Odekirk took the top two spots in the women's 1,500. Viertel wasn't far off her personal record, finishing in 4:30.56, while Odekirk recorded a new PR (4:33.02) and just missed the school's top 10. Viertel also took first in the 800, finishing in 2:14.59.
At the Cal State LA Twilight Meet, a group of Utah Valley throwers were in action with
Joshua Clark winning the discus with a mark of 49.25 meters.
Austin Kleinman hit 47.10 meters, a new PR that keeps him in the No. 7 spot at Utah Valley and
Alyssa Logan finished third in the discus with a personal record of 46.65 meters, which also keeps her in seventh in the school's top 10.
Jada Ragin moved into the No. 10 spot in the hammer, with a PR of 48.84 meters.
The action continues on Friday and Saturday for UVU at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational.
