Track & Field travels to Pocatello for Bengal Invitational

OREM, Utah — With the WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships just two weeks away, Utah Valley University heads to Idaho State's Bengal Invitational this weekend. The meet runs Friday and Saturday at Davis Field in Pocatello.

The slate of action begins Friday afternoon with men's and women's hammer throw at 2:30 p.m. The men's pole vault will also be Friday with the men and women also competing in the long jump and the javelin.

Friday will be mostly preliminary heats with the exception of finals in the 1,500 and the 10,000 for both the men and women. Saturday begins at 11 a.m. with the discus, triple jump, shot put, and high jump. The 4x100 relays start at 11:30 a.m. and the day wraps up in the mid-afternoon with the 4x400 races.

The Wolverines saw a trio of school records fall last week at the BYU Robison Invitational. Kelsi Oldroyd earned the WAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after increasing her top mark in the WAC in the javelin and also resetting her own school record in the process. She hit 56.66 meters to win the javelin and set the new school record, which is also No. 7 in the country entering the week. Oldroyd also broke her own long jump record with a height of 5.99 meters on Friday.

Maysen Rollo also broke her own school record after hitting 3.92 meters in the pole vault, which is also the top mark in the WAC this season.

The men's high jump quartet of Aiden Garnett, Seth Krauss, Jeffrey Duvinston, and Carter Cook comes in at No. 4 in the nation in this week's latest event squad rankings. The women's 10,000 is ranked fifth in the country and is also 15th in the country in the 5k behind Everlyn Kemboi—who has the top time in the country in the 5,000—alongside Mazzie Melaney Preston, Madison Flippence, and Ari Trimble.

The women are also ranked No. 23 in the 400-meter hurdles (Kali McEuen, Paige Young, Emma Aldred-Hunt, and Becky Lowder) and 29th in the 100-meter hurdles (Quincy Bonds, Young, Aldred-Hunt, and McEuen).
