OREM, Utah — Utah Valley's Rylee Thorpe, Megan Gibbs, and Brooke Saili have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, CSC announced today.
The award is given annually to student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, have attended their institution for more than a year, and have either appeared in 50% of their team's games or pitched more than 10 innings.
Thorpe and Saili both recently wrapped up their senior seasons here at Utah Valley, and have completed their degrees. Thorpe graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education, and Saili finished her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Autism Studies and Family Science.
Gibbs recently finished her redshirt sophomore season, and is majoring in Hospitality Management. Gibbs was named to the All-WAC second team after leading the team in home runs, RBIs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
