INDIANAPOLIS—Utah Valley golfer
Brady McKinlay has earned an individual at-large bid into the 2023 NCAA Men's Golf Championship and will be competing in the NCAA Regional at Bear's Best Las Vegas, May 15-17.
Â
McKinlay, from Alberta, Canada, joins Mason Casper and Gabe Lysen as just the third golfer in UVU history to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship.Â
Â
McKinlay recently earned First Team All-WAC honors after completing the most successful season by an individual golfer in Utah Valley history. McKinlay won four individual titles this season to become Utah Valley's all-time career wins leader. He won all four of his individual titles this season in back-to-back-to-back-to-back tournaments.Â
Â
McKinlay opened the season at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the United States Air Force Academy where he recorded a top-20 finish, tying for 19th with a three-round 1-under-par 215 (70-71-74). He then won his first-ever collegiate tournament at the Ram Masters Invitational at Fort Collins Country Club with a three-round score of 9-under-par 201 (71-66-64). The following week he won again, taking the title at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational at Boulder Country Club with a three-round 7-under-par 203 (69-68-66). McKinlay then wrapped up the fall season with individual medalist honors at the Shocker Invitational for his third straight title with a score of 11-under-par 202 (66-67-69). He then opened the spring season with the win at the Pat Hicks Invitational with a three-round 9-under-par 207 (68-74-65).
Â
McKinlay finished the season with seven top-10 finishes. He most recently tied for sixth at the WAC Championship and wrapped up the season with the lowest scoring average in school history at 70.03, surpassing Nic Van Vuuren's 71.97 scoring average set during the 2005-06 season.
