OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University head softball coach Cody Thomson has announced the signing of College of Southern Idaho standout Saige Nielsen to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Wolverines. 

Nielsen spent the last two seasons playing at NJCAA powerhouse CSI, where she helped lead the Golden Eagles to a pair of Region 18 Tournament titles and a pair of trips to the NJCAA National Tournament. Nielsen played in and started 119 games at CSI, posting a .376 career batting average with 42 home runs, 138 RBIs, and an .822 slugging percentage. 

In 2022, Nielsen was named the Region 18 Tournament MVP and earned All-Region 18 second team honors. In 2023, Nielsen was named to the All-Region 18 Tournament team. Nielsen will be joining fellow CSI teammate Rachael Brown in Orem.

A native of West Haven, Utah, Nielsen prepped at Roy HS where she also played basketball. Nielsen played her club ball for the Rampage (2018-21) and Hard Knox (2011-18).
