FRESNO, Calif.—Dane Huddleston carded a two-round 2-under-par 140 (69-71) to lead Utah Valley on the first day of competition at the Nick Watney Invitational at Fort Washington Country Club in Fresno, California. Utah Valley is in 11th place after two rounds of play.

Utah Valley shot a team score of 1-under-par 567 (282-285) and is alone in 11th place on the 14-team leaderboard. The Wolverines sit ahead of UC Riverside and WAC schools Southern Utah and Seattle U. St. Mary's leads the tournament at 25-under-par.Â

"It was a tough day," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "We just didn't make enough birdies. We've got to do a better job on the par 5s tomorrow. They killed us today."

Huddleston carded a two-round 2-under-par 140 (69-71) and is tied for 27th place on the 83-player individual leaderboard. Huddleston shot a 2-under-par 69 in round one before recording an even par 71 in round two. Huddleston had six birdies over his two rounds of play.Â

Ryan Seamons is tied for 32nd after shooting a two-round score of 1-under-par 141 (71-70. Seamons carded an even par 71 in round one and followed it up with a 1-under-par 70 in round two. Seamons had four birdies in round one and three more in round two.

Kai Iguchi and
Zachary Erskine are tied for 44th at 2-over-par 144. Iguchi shot a 2-over-par 73 in round one before tallying an even par 71 in round two. Erskine had an even par 71 in round one before shooting a 2-over-par 73 in round two.

Ethan Efford shot a two-round 6-over-par 148 (71-77) and is tied for 65th.Â
