Utah Valley's Stainbrook invited to Washington Spirit Preseason Training Camp

OREM--Utah Valley senior midfielder Heather Stainbrook has been invited to the preseason camp of the National Women's Soccer League's Washington Spirit. 
 
Stainbrook was the only player in the Western Athletic Conference to be named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List this past season. She earned First Team All-WAC, All-Pacific Region Team, and Academic All-District honors this past season. She ranked in the top-25 nationally in both points (31) and goals (12) in 2023. 
 
The five-year starter is Utah Valley's all-time leading goal scorer (40) and all-time points leader (105). In her five seasons with the Wolverines, Stainbrook played in 102 matches and made 101 starts with 40 goals, 25 assists, 105 points, 300 shots, and 133 shots on goal. She scored 14 game-winning goals in her 8,175 minutes of play. 
 
Stainbrook led Utah Valley to its first-ever WAC regular season championship, a WAC Tournament title, and the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in any sport in 2020. She also led the Wolverines to their first-ever at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament in 2022. In all, Stainbrook led UVU to two WAC regular season championships, one WAC Tournament championship, and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
The South Jordan, Utah native became the first player in UVU women's soccer history and just the sixth student-athlete in UVU history to receive Academic All-America® honors. She also became the first player in UVU history to earn United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team honors in 2022 and 2023. 
 
Stainbrook was a three-time First Team All-WAC honoree. She was UVU's first-ever First Team All-Region selection in 2022. She received three All-Region selections.
 
"I have loved my time here at UVU," said Stainbrook. "I could not be more grateful for this program, my coaches, and my teammates. I am honored to have learned from such amazing coaches and for the belief that they had in me. Over the past five years, I have been pushed and have grown as a person and player in ways I never imagined."
 
The Washington Spirit is the professional women's soccer team based in Washington, D.C. and plays at Audi Field in Buzzard Point. The Spirit were founded on November 21, 2012 and are an inaugural member of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the premier women's soccer league in North America. 
 
Stainbrook reports to camp on Friday and will be in Washington D.C. until Jan. 26. She will then fly to Chula Vista, California to train at the Olympic Training Center with the team from Jan. 26-Feb. 8.
