OREM, Utah — Basketball student-athletes
Kaylee Byon and
Jaden McClanahan have been named the UVU Athletics Perry Homes Scholar-Athletes of the Month for January. The two are now finalists for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, given to one male and one female student-athlete at the Wolverine Club Athletic Awards.
Byon holds a 3.95 cumulative GPA and was named Academic All-WAC after her freshman season in 2022-23. On the court, the sophomore from Buena Park, California is averaging 6.3 points per game. She's reached double figures in scoring four times this season, including 14 points in the WAC home opener against Utah Tech.
McClanahan has a 3.35 cumulative GPA and is a three-time Academic All-WAC selection during his career at Utah Valley. He's averaging 7.6 points per game and scored a season-best 19 points in a WAC-opening win over Seattle U. The Vallejo, California native has also recorded 10 assists (vs Carroll) and 13 rebounds (at Sam Houston) as season-highs.
