Wolverines headed to Cedar City for Color Country Invite

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University cross country will race at the Color Country Invitational on Friday morning at Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Cedar City, hosted by Southern Utah. The women will run a 4k starting at 8 a.m. MT and the men's 6k is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. on the hilly course.

Utah Valley's women, ranked 30th in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll while remaining at fifth in the Mountain Region poll, are led by a group of upperclassmen including Oakley Olson and Caila Odekirk. Olson has led the Wolverines twice to open the season, at the UVU Invite and the BYU Autumn Classic, and was named the WAC Athlete of the Week after both performances. Odekirk was the team's top finisher at the Roy Griak Invitational.

The men's squad is ranked 11th in the region and led by Mo Guled, who was named the USTFCCCA National Men's Division I National Athlete of the Week on Sept. 23 after winning the Men's Gold 8k at the Roy Griak Invitational. He was also the WAC Athlete of the Week on Sept. 16 after his finish at the BYU Autumn Classic.

Following this week's race, the Wolverines will travel to the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 on Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
