OREM, Utah – Former Utah Valley All-American Ben Kjar will return to the world stage this week for the 2024 Veterans World Championships in Porec, Croatia. The tournament will feature athletes who are at least 35 years old in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle competitions.
Kjar won a gold medal in the 62kg Greco-Roman competition last year in Loutraki, Greece, after outscoring his opponents 24-2 in his four matches in the Greco-Roman bracket. He earned the silver medal in the freestyle competition after advancing to the gold medal bout with a pair of wins. He fell to Azerbaijan's Jalal Suleymanov in the finals.
This year, Kjar will be in Division B, featuring 41-45-year-old competitors. The Freestyle competition will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 2:30 a.m. MT and the Greco-Roman tournament will start on Friday. All the action can be seen on FloWrestling.
