UVU TAKES TOP SEED INTO WAC TOURNAMENT, FACES #4 CALIFORNIA BAPTIST IN SEMIFINALS
Utah Valley has earned the No. 1 seed and a bye into Wednesday's WAC Tournament semifinal match against fourth-seeded California Baptist at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene, Texas. The game will kickoff at 3 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Wolverines wrapped up regular season play last week with a 3-3 tie at Seattle U to claim the outright WAC regular season title. Faith Webber recorded a brace to secure the victory.
Webber leads the Wolverines with a record-breaking 18 goals this season, surpassing her previous school record of 16 goals. She earned her third consecutive First Team All-WAC selection and was named WAC Offensive Player of the Year, joining former Wolverine Heather Stainbrook (2022) in this honor. Webber also tops the nation in total goals (18), goals per game (1.00), shots per game (6.11), and shots on goal per game (3.11). Her contributions helped UVU achieve a historic season, reaching program milestones with 48 career goals and 109 points. Webber recorded four game-winning goals and was a four-time WAC Player of the Week. Ruby Hladek, from Ladera Ranch, California, was also named First Team All-WAC. She leads the WAC with 10 assists, ranking fifth nationally, and is close to breaking UVU's single-season assist record of 12.
In goal, CJ Graham has been solid with a 10-3-2 record over 16 starts, playing 1155 minutes with a 1.87 goals-against average. Graham has made 49 saves with a .671 save percentage, recording two solo shutouts and two combined clean sheets.
UTAH VALLEY CLAIMS THIRD STRAIGHT WAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP, NO 1 SEED AT 2024 WAC TOURNAMENT
Faith Webber recorded a brace, including the game-winner, to lead Utah Valley to a 3-0 shutout win over league rival Grand Canyon on Oct. 21 t at Clyde Field, securing the team's third straight Western Athletic Conference regular season championship. UVU then played Seattle U to a 3-3 road tie to claim the outright WAC championship. The Wolverines have now claimed the WAC regular season title in back-to-back-to-back seasons. It's also its fourth WAC regular season championship in the past five years, having won titles in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Utah Valley also claims the No. 1 seed at the WAC Tournament.

California Baptist enters the WAC Tournament semifinals with an 8-6-3 overall record, advancing with a 2-0 victory over Tarleton State on Sunday night. Lauryn White recorded a brace, including the game winner for the Lancer in the quarterfinal win. The win over Tarleton State marked the team's first-ever postseason win in the Division I era. Mikayla O'Brien recorded her fifth shutout of the season in the quarterfinal win over Tarleton State. White leads the Lancers with six goals and 13 points this season. 11 different players have found the back of the net this year for CBU.Â

Utah Valley and California Baptist will meet on the pitch for the 11th time on Wednesday. Utah Valley holds an all-time 5-3-2 advantage in the series. The Wolverines hold a four-match unbeaten streak against the Lancers. CBU's last win in the series came on Oct. 8, 2021 in Norco, California. The two teams have never played one another in the WAC Tournament. UVU defeated CBU, 4-1, this season on Oct. 17.Â

The Wolverines hold an all-time 13-6-2 (.667) record at the WAC Tournament since joining the league in 2013. Utah Valley went 0-1 at last year's WAC Tournament, falling 2-1 to Grand Canyon in the semifinals. UVU will play a tournament semifinal match for the 11th time in team history. UVU has only missed out on the semifinals one time in its 12-year WAC history. The Wolverines hold a 6-4-0 record in WAC Tournament semifinal matches. Wednesday's match against CBU will mark the first time that UVU has played CBU in the tournament. UVU has advanced to the championship game of the tournament six times, including four out of the last five tournaments.
WOLVERINES HEADLINE WAC POSTSEASON AWARDS
Utah Valley women's soccer dominated the 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) postseason awards, with senior Faith Webber named WAC Offensive Player of the Year, senior defender Haley Funn honored as Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and freshman standout Kate Shirts recognized as WAC Freshman of the Year. Head coach Chris Lemay also earned WAC Coach of the Year accolades for the second time in his career. The awards highlight a remarkable season for the Wolverines, who secured their third consecutive WAC regular season title and the top seed at the WAC Tournament.
