OREM, Utah — UVU outdoor track & field will host the Utah Valley University Collegiate Invitational this Friday at Hal Wing Track & Field. The meet returns to Orem after last yearʻs event was canceled due to weather. Spectators are asked to park in lot L-14, directly south of Hal Wing Track & Field. There is no charge for the event.
The Wolverines will also send a group of distance runners to the Bay Area, where they'll will compete at the Stanford Invitational and at San Francisco State's Mike Fanelli Track Classic. The Fanelli Classic will be held at Chabot College in Hayward, California.
Student-athletes from BYU, Idaho State, Salt Lake CC, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Weber State are all expected to participate in Friday's meet in Orem, which begins with the men's discus at 9 a.m. MT. followed by the women's discus, shot put, and then hammer and javelin, in order, slated to start 30 minutes after the prior event.
The jumps will start at 10 a.m. with the men's long jump and women's high jump with the pole vault (11 a.m.) and triple jump (1 p.m.) to follow. The track portion gets underway at 12:30 p.m. MT with the steeplechase and concludes just after 4 p.m. with the 4x400 race.
The Wolverines have nine entries in at the Stanford Invitational, with runners competing in the 1,500, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000, and 10,000. At the Mike Fanelli, distance runners will compete on Friday and Saturday with entries in the 800, 1,500, 3,000S, 5k, and 10k.
