Oldroyd earns spot at Olympic Trials, named WAC Field Athlete of the Week

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University's Kelsi Oldroyd qualified for the 2024 Olympic Trials in the javelin with her performance last week at the Mt. Sac Relays. On Wednesday she was also named the WAC TicketSmarter Field Athlete of the Week for that performance, receiving the honor for the second week straight week.

OIdroyd qualified for the trials with her throw of 54.34 meters, which leads the WAC, ranks ninth in the West, and is 10th nationally. She'll compete in Eugene, Oregon on June 28 in the qualifying round. The top 12 from the qualifying round will advance to the final on June 30.

She is the reigning WAC Champion in the javelin and will look to defend her title during the WAC Outdoor Championships in Orem on May 9-11. Oldroyd is also poised to make her second straight trip to the NCAA West First Rounds, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in May. It's the fourth time in her career that she's received the WAC Field Athlete of the Week.

This week, Oldroyd and the rest of the Wolverine squad will compete in Provo at BYU Robison Invitational April 25-27.
