ARLINGTON, Texas—Utah Valley senior forward/midfielder Ruby Hladek has been named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Wolverines to a dramatic 2–1 comeback win at California Baptist on Saturday night in Riverside, California.
Hladek, a native of Ladera Ranch, California, scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute—just 40 seconds after UVU netted the equalizer—to lift the Wolverines to their first-ever win at CBU. She led all players with six shots, including four on frame, while tallying her 10th goal of the season.
This is Hladek's second WAC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season (also Aug. 26). Utah Valley has now earned 11 WAC weekly awards this fall across eight different Wolverines.
Hladek joins this week's honorees alongside Utah Tech's Abby Olsen (Defensive Player of the Week) and Brianna Frey (Goalkeeper of the Week). Previous UVU weekly winners this season include Faith Webber (Sept. 9, Oct. 7), Nixan Jackson (Sept. 30), Marie Quentel (Sept. 16), Taylor Nelson (Aug. 19), Mia Owens (Sept. 30), Kate Shirts (Oct. 7), and Leah Wolf (Aug. 19, Sept. 9).
Utah Valley (9-4-2, 5-0-1 WAC) will return home for a pair of in-state matchups, beginning Thursday night against Southern Utah. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at UCCU Stadium, with the match streaming live on ESPN+.
