Utah Valley heads to Arlington, Texas for the 2025 WAC Cross Country Championships, as the women's team looks to claim its third-straight title and the men's squad aims for its first team title since 2019. The men's race will be first, kicking off at 8 a.m. MDT, followed by the women's race at 9.
Both Wolverine squads were projected to finish second behind California Baptist in the league's pre-Championship Coaches Poll. On the men's side, CBU is the defending champion and has been ranked as high as No. 15 in this season's USTFCCCA poll, while the Lancers' women's squad is the lone team in the WAC to reach the others receiving votes.
LAST TIME OUT
Morgan Nokes claimed her fourth individual title of the year at the Princeton Fall Classic to tie the program record for most wins in a single season. Nokes matched 2022 All-American Everlyn Kemboi, whose four wins included that season's WAC Championship and NCAA Mountain Regional races.
The Wolverine women finished sixth as a team against a tough field, including team champion Boise State, whom UVU will see in two weeks' time at the Mountain Regionals in Salt Lake. Behind Nokes, Elisabeth Ferrell (46th), Artana Nice (52nd), and Ari Trimble (54th) finished among the top 60 runners.
On the men's side, the group was led once again by Sila Kiplagat and Wyatt Mortenson, with the duo finishing 21st and 30th respectively. Either Kiplagat or Mortenson has been UVU's top finisher in each race this season, including a one-two finish at the Color Country Invitational back on Oct. 4.
The men's squad took home fifth place overall, topping a handful of Power 4 programs in Syracuse, Pitt, Boston College, and Rutgers. Behind Kiplagat and Mortenson, Jayden Fitzgarrald and Samuel Nelson came across simultaneously to round out the top 50.
