OREM, Utah — A trio of Utah Valley University student-athletes are being honored for their success in the classroom and their performance in their respective sports. Wrestling's Terrell Barraclough, and basketball players Dominick Nelson and Tahlia White have been named the UVU's Perry Homes Scholar-Athletes of the Month for the winter months.

Barraclough is putting together one of the best seasons in program history with a 22-1 record and a perfect 13-0 in duals this season. In his return to Layton High School last week, he knocked off returning All-American and No. 3 Peyton Hall for his fifth win over a Top 5 ranked opponent this season. The redshirt senior is on pace for one of the top seeds in next month's Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Championships. Barraclough is currently completing his MBA at UVU and holds a 4.0 GPA.

Nelson, who holds a 3.44 GPA while majoring in applied communication, delivered a stellar month on the court, averaging 19.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 51.3 percent from the field in January. His top performances included a pair of 25-point outings against UT Arlington and California Baptist, as well as a 21-point, eight-rebound effort against Grand Canyon.

White is the leading scorer on the women's basketball team at 12.2 points per game. She's averaging 17.7 points per game during WAC play, which is tied for second in the conference. She's scored in double figures in each of the last seven games and is averaging 19.4 points per game during that stretch. White set a career-high with 34 points at UT Arlington on Feb. 6. Academically, she holds a 3.95 GPA while pursuing her Master of Education in teacher leadership.
