OREM, Utah – Sacramento State evened the weekend series with Utah Valley with a 12-2 win on Saturday afternoon at UCCU Ballpark.
Mason Strong finished 2-for-3 in the contest as
Landon Frei and
Nate Bach hit homers for UVU (28-23, 13-10) play. The Hornets (29-22, 13-7) tallied 16 hits against the Wolverines' pitching staff.
The Hornets scored two in the top of the first inning as they jumped out to a 5-2 lead after two innings. The Wolverines answered Sacramento State with a run in the home half of the first when Frei tucked a ball around the foul pole to make it 2-1. They again played long ball on Bach's career homer No. 26 in the second inning to make it 5-2. He is now one behind
Daniel Dickinson for fifth all-time in career home runs.
Utah Valley threatened in the third and sixth innings with runners in scoring position but did not score either inning. Strong recorded his first hit on an infield single in the third inning before
Brody Block worked a walk to put two runners on base, but UVU could not bring them home. In the sixth inning, Strong singled for his second hit and recorded his 24th multi-hit game of the season. The Wolverines had two runners in scoring position on a double from
Dominic Longo II.
The Wolverines tallied eight hits in the ballgame, including a single from
Jimmy De Anda in the second. He has reached safely in 40 games and has the longest active streak on the team.
Iverson's record-breaking streak was snapped in the game after he had reached in 48 consecutive contests to hold the UVU record.

The series will conclude on Sunday, May 11, at 1:05 p.m. MT at UCCU Ballpark. The game will serve as the final home game of the regular season. After the game, UVU will honor its seniors on the field. The 2025 regular season wraps up next week with a three-game series against the WCC's San Francisco Dons in the Bay Area.
