OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University head coach Dan Nielson has announced the signing of former Lone Peak High School and BYU transfer Naia Tanuvasa. Tanuvasa spent one season at BYU after her standout prep career.

"We are thrilled to have Naia join our program! She is a perfect fit for us," said Nielson. "We love her offensive ability to get to the rim and knock down clutch shots while still being a tenacious defender. Naia is a proven winner that our fans will love to watch!"

Tanuvasa was a three-time Utah All-State honoree during her high school career, including a first-team All-State selection and region MVP as a senior after averaging 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game while helping lead Lone Peak to the 6A state title. During her prep career, she was a part of three state championship teams.

The 2024 Utah Valley Girls Basketball Player of the Year by the Daily Herald, Tanuvasa was also a soccer star in high school. She earned first-team All-State honors in 2024 and the 2022 Daily Herald Utah Valley Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

During her first season of collegiate basketball at BYU, Tanuvasa appeared in 10 games, totaling seven points and four rebounds in limited action.
