Final Perry Homes Scholar-Athletes Named

5/8/2025 3:41:00 PM

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University athletics honored four student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic success with the Perry Homes Scholar-Athletes of the Month. Dane Huddleston, Chloe Jang, Anna Martin, and Kade Thompson were named the athletes of the month for April.

A marketing major with a 3.23 GPA, Huddleston has enjoyed a successful season on the golf course, helping lead the Wolverines to four top-three finishes and a pair of team titles. He recently captured the 2025 WAC individual title and set a new UVU single-season record with five tournament victories—an achievement that ranks tied for fourth all-time in NCAA Division I history. Huddleston continues to balance his academic commitments while leading the Wolverines to a successful season. He will compete next week at the NCAA Regional in Reno.

Jang, from women's golf, boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as a public health major. Jang finished in a tie for eighth at the 2025 WAC Championship, leading Utah Valley with the team's top individual finish. Her eighth-place finish at the WAC Championship tied her second-best finish of the season and marked her third top-10 performance of the season. Her steady play and academic discipline have made her a standout in the program, embodying what it means to be a true student-athlete at UVU. Jang will also be competing later this month at the 2025 Epson Tour Copper Rock Championship in Hurricane, Utah, after earning a sponsor exemption into the field.

Martin graduated last week with a degree in English education with a 3.95 GPA. On the track, Martin has two silvers and a bronze during the month of April. Her 10,000-meter performance at the Stanford Invitational, where she placed third, is the top time in the WAC this season and 35th-best time in the West. She also has the third-best 5,000-meter time in the conference, with her runner-up finish to teammate Caila Odekirk at the BYU Robison Invitational. Martin has won a pair of individual WAC Championships this calendar year, winning the women's cross country title and the 5,000-meter title at the WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. She's also been a key piece to the Wolverine women winning both the cross country and indoor team titles.

Thompson's month of April included first-place finishes at the La Verne Invitational in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Thompson has a 3.83 cumulative GPA while majoring in business and analysis. His outdoor season has seen him win six golds, and he's also set personal records in the top 10 this spring in both the 100 and 200, and four times as a member of the 4x100 squad. His PR of 10.37 seconds, set at the UNLV Rebel ELITE, is the No. 4 mark in the WAC, while Thompson is also part of the top 4x100 time in the conference and 19th-ranked time in the West. During the indoor season, Thompson set the school record in the 200 and also recorded the No. 2 time in the 60-meter dash in school history.

The four are now finalists for the Perry Homes Scholar-Athlete of the Year, given out each year at the annual Wolverine Club Athletic Awards.
