OREM — Four Utah Valley University women's soccer players played pivotal roles this summer in helping Utah United win the 2024 USL W League national title, capping off a historic inaugural season for the first-year franchise.

UVU's Ruby Hladek, Sierra Pennock, Elle Young, and Tylie Miller each made valuable contributions to Utah United's championship run, which culminated in a 4-0 victory over defending champion North Carolina Courage U23 in Saturday night's national final at South Field in Provo.

Hladek, who will be a senior for the Wolverines this fall, tied for sixth in the USL W League with seven goals over 13 matches — including the final goal of the championship match, a 60th-minute finish off a corner kick that helped seal the win. Pennock also found the back of the net during the season, adding a goal of her own while contributing as a steady presence in the midfield and attack. Young and Miller made key appearances as well, helping provide depth, energy, and defensive strength throughout the summer.

Utah United, which played its home matches at Clyde Field on the UVU campus, finished the summer with a 13-1 overall record. The club claimed the Mountain Division title with a 9-1 regular-season mark before winning three straight postseason matches, including a road win over Minnesota Aurora in the national semifinals.

The team's rapid success was built around a core of Utah-based college talent, including the four Wolverines, and provided a high-level training and competition environment during the summer months. Utah United's roster featured players from schools such as Utah Valley, BYU, Utah, Utah State, TCU, Memphis, and North Carolina, many of whom had previously competed with or against one another in high school, club, or Olympic Development Program competition.

Hladek, Pennock, Young, and Miller now return to Orem with professional championship experience under their belts as the Wolverines look to build on three consecutive WAC regular season titles and pursue a fourth straight conference crown this fall.
