OREM — For the second time in her young career, Utah Valley University midfielder Malia Jessop has earned a call-up to the Samoa Senior Women's National Team, as she has been selected to compete at the upcoming OFC Women's World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for Feb. 23–March 7, 2026, in the Solomon Islands.

The selection marks Jessop's second appearance in the Samoa national team player pool after earning her first international invitation during her freshman season in 2025. She now returns to the international stage as Samoa prepares for World Cup qualifying competition.

"We are really proud of Mailia," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay. "She continues to get better every day. Malia is a leader and is playing with great confidence right now, she is versatile, athletic and covers ground. I feel confident that the Samoan National team will be very pleased having Malia on their side as they work towards World Cup qualification."

Jessop, a sophomore midfielder from Vineyard, Utah, appeared in nine matches during her freshman season in 2025, totaling 137 minutes while recording one assist. She made her collegiate debut against Auburn and gained valuable experience throughout her first campaign.

Before arriving at Utah Valley, Jessop starred at Timpanogos High School, where she scored 21 goals and added 12 assists during her senior season. She earned MVP honors while helping lead the Timberwolves to four straight Region 8 championships and a runner-up finish in the 4A state finals.
