ST. GEORGE—Chloe Jang shot a 1-over-par 73 on Saturday at Sunbrook Golf Club to lead the Utah Valley women's golf team in the second round of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational. Jang moved up three spots on the leaderboard into 17th place with a two-round 6-over-par 150 (77-73).
As a team, Utah Valley carded a 12-over-par 300 in round two and remains in sixth place on the nine-team leaderboard with a two-round total of 22-over-par 610 (310-300). Weber State holds the team lead at 1-over-par 577 (296-281).
Maria Ortiz recorded a 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 24th with a two-round score of 10-over-par 154 (79-75). Rylie Rodriguez and Valentina Zuleta each shot 4-over-par 76 on Saturday and are also tied for 24th at 10-over-par 154. Rodriguez sits at 154 (78-76), while Zuleta is also at 154 (78-76). Alyssa Butterfus carded an 8-over-par 80 and is tied for 34th with a two-round total of 13-over-par 157 (77-80).
Mia Pace, Pati Uluave, and Jacklyn Gonzalez are competing as individuals. Pace shot a 3-over-par 75 in the second round and is tied for 29th at 11-over-par 155 (80-75). Uluave recorded a 4-over-par 76 and sits in 41st place at 17-over-par 161 (85-76). Gonzalez carded a 9-over-par 81 and is tied for 56th with a two-round total of 27-over-par 171 (90-81).
Utah Valley will close out the tournament on Sunday with the final round set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Sunbrook Golf Club.
