ARLINGTON, Texas — Utah Valley sophomore thrower Grace Degarimore has been named the WAC Field Athlete of the Week for the meet week ending April 19, the league announced in a press release on Thursday.

A native of Port Orchard, Wash., Degarimore set a new personal best to win the shot put at the Mt. SAC Relays, improving by over a meter from 14.71m to 15.78m. Her mark is the best in the WAC so far this season by nearly two meters.

Degarimore is closing in on Utah Valley's longest-standing record in any event, set by former Swedish national champion Helena Engman in 1999. Degarimore trails Engman's record of 16.16m by 0.38m.

Utah Valley is sending a handful of athletes to Utah State's Aggie Invitational this weekend in Logan. The Wolverines will officially wrap up the regular season next week, competing at BYU's Robison Invitational and the SUU Coliseum Championships.
