LAS VEGAS, SAN FRANCISCO, and STANFORD, Calif. — Maddie Passmore set a new school record in the triple jump for the second week in a row as Utah Valley wrapped up competition at the UNLV Rebel ELITE, Mike Fanelli Track Classic, and Stanford Invitational on Saturday.
Passmore matched the previous school record of 12.26m last week at the UVU Collegiate Invitational and wasted no time breaking that record, setting a new personal best of 12.54m. Passmore also matched her season best in the long jump at 5.98m on Friday.
Saturday also saw the Wolverines come away with five individual event wins, highlighted by Neal Berkey's new personal best of 4.85m in the pole vault in Las Vegas that ranks tied for eighth-best all-time. Cayden Tupper and Elisabeth Ferrell made it a sweep of the 1500-meter titles in Vegas, posting times of 3:55.91 and 4:36.74 respectively.
Utah Valley's men's 4x100 squad posted another strong time, as Garrett Nelson, Collin Petersen, Gavin Stafford, and Kade Thompson combined for a time of 40.01 that ranks No. 9 all-time.
Bria Anderson posted her second top-10 time of the weekend, running a 56.20 400-meter dash. Anderson also posted a top-10 in the 800-meter on Friday.
In San Francisco, Utah Valley's distance runners closed out the weekend with two top-10 marks and an event win. Wyatt Mortenson and Seth Smith each posted a top-10 mark in the 10,000m, with Mortenson checking in at No. 8 with a time of 30:05.99 and Smith rounding out the top 10 at 30:15.70. Mazee Southward posted the top overall time in the women's 10k at 35:13.80.
Grace Degarimore posted the top overall mark in the women's shot put at Stanford at 14.20m, then later took fourth in the discus at 45.58m. Other notable marks from the weekend include Grace Williams and Emily Conlin finishing second and third in the women's pole vault at 3.68m and 3.53m respectively.
Utah Valley will return to Utah for its next two meets, hosted by Weber State and Utah on April 10 and 11 respectively. More details for both meets can be found on the schedule page.
