OREM, Utah — Utah Valley fell 10-5 in a midweek matchup to crosstown rival Brigham Young University on Tuesday night at UCCU Ballpark. Former Cougar
Chipper Beck finished 2 for 3 and reached base four times for UVU (14-17), but BYU (15-16) scored runs in the middle innings to pull away for the victory.

Cole Jordan in 2024 to record four walks in a game against the Cougars.
Chance Wallace made his first start for the Wolverines and logged a season-high three innings with four strikeouts, setting new season highs for the left-hander.
Utah Valley broke through after a BYU pitching change.

Mason Strong was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Beck then doubled to left-center field to score two runs and give UVU a 2-0 lead.

Utah Valley trailed 5-3 entering the bottom of the sixth but cut into the deficit after a leadoff double from
Derek Houston. He later scored on a pickoff attempt that got away and rolled into center field, then advanced home on an errant throw to third, making it 5-4.
BYU scored three runs in the seventh and added two more in the eighth to extend its lead to 10-4.
Will Applegate, making his fourth start of the season, hit his first career home run down the right-field line to cut the deficit to 10-5.
